I've kinda gotten frustrated with the search feature & figured I might as well ask,,,,
Who sells rebuild kits for the H&K 20rd mags ?
I could use just the springs or the full kits.
Thx

Why buy a rebuild kit when you can get an entire magazine for $2.50 to $3.50?

Mainly because it gets expensive going through ammo trying to test and tweek those "cheap" mags,,, out of the 12 various mags I have only 3 or 4 are reliable,,,, putting in new springs would be alot cheaper before wasting ammo trying them out

i am not sure they are "cheap" mags. i will agree they don't cost much. most of the mags i bought for $.75 to $1.00 were new or like new. they were made for the military. the parts in them would be new or like new.

if you replace the new ( or like new) springs with new springs, then what is the difference. what i have found is the fit in the rifle was almost always the problem not the springs. some adjustment may be needed to the rifle. several people have posted a fix for this problem. bottom line is some mags just will not work in some of the g-3's or the cetme's. i have found that some times they will work in one and not in another.
many guys buy a bunch and cull out the one that don't work, sell them off and buy some more until they get the amout of mags that they need. it just takes time and ammo to work it out, but i would work on the rifle first.
good luck!.

Check out Cheaper than Dirt. Yesterday, I received a box of 100 mags from them and most of the mags were in new or slightly used condition. I counted 10 or so that were still in the plastic. Why worry about rebuilding them when they are so freakin cheap? At the price they are charging for them, you can cull them and trash the junkers.... if you can find any....

Followers rarely go bad unless they were severely abused, and that much abuse to the follower usually bends the magazine lips. Springs can get relaxed or broken but not often either. That together with the low cost of aluminum mags, you can almost consider them a re-build kit. You can't hardly buy just a follower for another mag as cheap. And, I'll echo what has already been said, both magazines may not work in a rifle. Most of the time if you are having to search through magazines to find one that will work, what you are really looking for is finding a magazine that will work to match the fit of your rifle receiver. 99% of the time it is related to the overall height of the receiver, matched against the depth of the magwell catch and the position of the trunnion. Anyway, back to your original post. If you want to buy springs, the cheapest way is to buy the aluminum mags. Cheaper than you would pay for a spring by itself. A replacement magazine spring from Numrichs (Part #913180) is $4.70. A follower (Part #913150) is also $4.70. Floor plates and retainers (#913160 & 913170) are also $4.70 ea. So you are close to $20 for rebuild parts......A brand new in the wrap steel magazine (931920) is only $10.25 and the new in the wrap aluminum mags (979220) are only $6.15.

Thanks guys,,,,
I spent a lil' time smoothing out the front of the cast SS magwell which seems to have solved the problems with most of the mags,,,, at least they are cycling by hand. I still have a couple of mags that have weak springs, so I will probably order a few springs from Numrich. This seems like cheap insurance to me,,, I do like to have spare parts as well as spare mags.
