Here is my first Battle rifle. It's a Yugo 59/66...Nothing unusual except maybe the accessory Israeli dummy practice grenade. I also added a Williams Firesight set. I actually like this rifle more than my AK's.

No, I have not yet fired a grenade. I do have a source for the proper blank cartridges but there are a few other problems. One, my local range won't allow it. Two, I only have one grenade and I don't want to loose it or bust it up. Three, I remember the recoil from firing a grenade from an M1 Garand. I think that this one is NOT meant to be fired from the shoulder. Do you know of anyone who has fired a grenade from an SKS?

never known anyone to fire a grenade from an sks, but the 762x39 round doesnt seem like it could recoil all that much regardless of whats on the end of the barrel. even in a bolt action, its a REALLY soft shooting round.
btw, thats the nicest wood Ive seen on a Yugo. You did really good. Has it been sanded/refinished?

i wouldnt put it up to my shoulder
ive fired a bunch of rifle grenades
normally, you cup the stock under your right arm - squeeze REALLY tight with your wing, and then pull the trigger
or, you pad your thigh, and prop it against that
or you prop the butt against the ground
maybe with a standard blank cartridge, and in 39mm it wouldnt be so bad, but you couldnt pay me to shoulder one with the real grenade blanks.
thats a very nice looking sks.i tend to like mine just a hair more than my ak's also but its close.:icon_biggrin:
My sks was the first rifle i ever bought. 3 days after i turned 18.
Lets say it has seen some use, but not worn out.
You see them batf approved attachments, that clamp on to the muzzle brake, so you can launch golf balls?

The sks was my first battle rifle too. I had three. Chinees Norinco. 15 years ago. I wish I still had at least one of them. They were the toughest rifles I've ever had. Also got real cheap ammo from Norinco, steel jacketed, lead core, steel cased. Those guns were alot of fun.
