Help. It happened again. EVERYTIME I buy something to apply to one of my guns, something ALWAYS happens that makes me wish I had NOT made the purchase. I have a real nice Century cast (NOT stamped) stainless CETME and wanted to put a scope on it. Ordered a real nice HK claw mount and am having a hell of a time getting it to lock on. It will come within a hair of making the clamp down for a complete lock up. I filed just a little on the receiver top saddle grooves and it now comes just a little closer to locking on. The bottom of the mount has the word "SchuBrichtung" with a large arrow, which I believe is telling me which way the mount should be applied. I sure don't want to do anymore filing on the receiver top notches. Anyone else have a similar problem with any advice other than just telling me to sell the damn thing?
Also, if I ever am successful in getting the mount to lock up properly, anyone have an extra top plate for this mount - the one that will convert from Stanag to the Picatinni (spelling?) ?? The mount came without any top plate and only has the screw holes for the plate. Thanks in advance. Blaster (Bob in So. CO)

1. I wouldnt buy the adaptor personally. Id buy the Z24 or other Hendsoldt scope thats made to go on it. I wanna say RTG had the adaptor a while back, but I could be wrong there.
2. On getting it to lock in, either keep going on the top saddle and dont forget the one in the front on top as well.
Make sure youve taken out the plastic bumper in the back on the mount as it hits the saddle and wont let it lock down right.
If you dont wanna go further on the top, then file on the bottoms of the lugs on the sides where the feet go. just take it slow until it just barely fits. I was too aggressive on mine and broke the pin in the locking mech.
also, the arrow as you thought is to tell you which way to put the mount on. It points forward.
SchuBrichtung mounts are genuine HK stuff, and will work great once you get your receiver fitted. Just keep taking it slow and itll work out. That little plastic thingy needing to come off is what put me over the edge with mine. Just get a thin flathead screwdriver and pry it off trying not to hurt the finish... a pocket knife woud work too as long as you dont break off the tip of he blade. It came off really easily on mine.
Just 1 more vote for the Z24 Hendsoldt scope... Perfect clarity, quick sighting reticle, good eye relief, and a really good scope. I shoot with mine out to 700 yards no problem.
Also HIGHLY recommend a cheekpiece once you get it mounted up. Youll never get a good cheek weld without one. Get the Cherokee.... buy it straight from them or from RTG, same price.

Thanks jfowel31. Well, I removed the small rubber bushing without any problems. Still wouldn't lock up. So, I filed, filed and filed some more and that damn thing still comes within just a half a hair of locking up. I don't want to REALLY "put the arm" on the lever and break the blasted thing. And now, I can't see where filing is helping at all. It just goes down almost to the locking notch and refuses to budge any further. Believe I'll just package up the nice HK claw mount and pass it along at one of the next gun shows where I have a table. That way I'll probably be able to salvage some of my sanity. Thanks for your suggestion...it was appreciated anyhow. Blaster (Bob in So. CO)

if its not budging and getting any closer, you are filing in the wrong spots. You should see improvement if you are filing on the spot that needs it the most.

I gave up for today. It's about 90 plus degrees outside right now and just too damn hot to do much of anything. That website of miketheelectrician is really great and I now know exactly where to file. I'll do the additional filing tomorrow when I'm in a much better frame of mind as I'm afraid I'd get just a little wreckless with the heat and insects that keep buzzing in my ears today. Thanks to The Great 308 AND jfowl31. I'll keep you guys posted on my progress. Blaster (Bob in So. CO)

I'm glad these instructions survived! I followed these when I fitted my Cetme
and it worked perfectly. Thanks for finding the instructions.

If the scope level, and it just needs to lock in, you can file a little off of the arm, I did that on mine works fine.
Don't give up Blaster, one good thing you don't have to worry about bending the reciever.
