ive got some family in Haughton. my bro.-in-law is a Airforce Capt. I get up there every blue moon. It s a pretty solid drive from here though, about 5-6 hours i think. I may be goin up in a few weeks to pick up a puppy. The dogs around here are all sickly weak hipped-pussies! lol

Weak hipped dogs, huh? Sounds like you are referring to hip dysplasia. I know something about dysplasia. Good luck with your puppy. FWIW, if it was me I would get a young adult dog that had his hips certified by the OFA, but you weren't asking my opinion, so I will quit inflicting it on you.

When you come up you should check out the new shooting range in Stonewall (DeSoto parish, just south of Caddo) called the Long Range Alley Gun Club. It is a work in progress, but is already miles ahead of anything we have had around here before. It has a 1,000 yard range if that is something you are interested in.

You would think there would be more than three of us. Oh, well.

LCPL 4, I am going down to Lafayette next week. Where should I eat? (needs to be real good, and I am willing to spend).

Depends on what you are in the mood for.

Every meal I've had from http://www.lafayettes.com/ has been excellent. Had crawfish there a few weeks ago. Medium sized but the water levels have been low as of late. Still good eatin. Always good food at http://www.poorboysriversideinn.com/ Partial to the alligator and emu appetizers.

If you want to show some non-natives a taste of the cajun atmosphere with music etc. then I'd take them to http://www.prejeans.com/

For Asian I'd recommend Tsunami http://www.servingsushi.com/Locations/Locations.asp For the young sushi eating growd. Wife loves the place. I just hate the prices. If you head 1/2hr south to New Iberia you'll find Bojangles downtown. Just as good, I think but cheaper prices.

For southwestern I'd go with Coyote Blues http://www.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=coyote+blues&near=Lafayette,+LA&radius=0.0&latlng=30223889,-92019722,1751085980518396555&sa=X&oi=local&ct=authority not a fancy place however. More for family.

Here's a good list of stuff in the Lafayette area ...

http://www.louisiana.edu/Academic/LiberalArts/ENGL/BWWC/lafayette_restaurants.htm All the Worth the Trip places are just that but it all depends how you feel. Mullate's would not be the place to go if you don't want to put up with the tourists, etc.

If you want great food, waited on hand and foot, and willing to pay top dollar then you'll have to head about an hour south of Lafayette on 90 to the Cypress Bayou Casino. Mr. Lester's Steakhouse is the high dollar cigar bar and restaurant.

There seems to be just a few of us coonass' here. Like the Lance Corporal found, www.bayoushooter.com has a pretty active New Orleans/Northshore/Baton Rouge contingent. Hkpro.com has a pretty big La section too. I'm Dave328 on all of them.

I used to live Uptown when I went to Tulane Law. I took the Louisiana Bar thinking I was going back. A combination of Katrina and a great job prevented it. I still may some day.
