View Full Version : CAI R1A1 Forearm Stock Removal
I have a CAI R1A1 and will be switching the "original" CAI forearm stock with a TAPCO T84 style one. How is the forearm stock removed?

If it is anything like a standard FAL hand guard. Hand guard is in 2 pieces. There is a screw that secures the front of the hand guard together. There is a hand guard ring in the back up against the receiver that holds the 2 halfs of the hand guard together.
Loosen the screw in front and pry the 2 halfs apart. Should be pretty simple. The front screw goes through a hole in the front sight / gas block.

Thats about it, mine comes apart by removeing the screw. then it splits off, the new stock will not fit the same way though I believe. It fits more like the cetme stock.
Thanks guys. I didn't recall seeing a screw slot on the left side, but I'm sure that it's there. For some reason I can only recall the gun from the left side.
The old forearm is off (I hate Century furniture) and the new Tapco T48 is on. The quality difference is like night and day. The T48 forearm offers a much better grip.
