 Just got a new selector for my Bulgy '74, because the one that came with the kit didn't fit in the receiver. Anyway, the one I ordered from K-VAR came, and it doesn't fit either! For a while I borrowed a Romy sel from my buddy, which worked fine. Any ideas?:533:

What is not fitting? Is it a milled or stamped receiver?

It's a stamped NDS receiver, built with an ORF AK-74S kit. The selector fits in the holes, and braces the retaining plate, but will not insert all the way or rotate down. Sorry, should have included that with original post.

When you rotate the selector around pull the trigger. The selector lever will not clear the disconnector otherwise. When you get the selector installed you may need to trim a little off the flat part on the bottom that sits on top of the back of the trigger. Do this very little at a time. Another thing to check, pull the hammer back and seat it under the trigger arm. Rotate the safety and make sure the hammer is not released. This does happen on some fire control groups. If it does I will get back to you later. I hope this helps.

Tried both of the above- the selector seems to be hanging up on the right side of the receiver itself. Something to do with the hole in the receiver, I think. I wonder if maybe the Bulgy selectors don't work in the NDS recievers, because the original kit part doesn't fit either, and seems to be the same problem. Onlt problem with this receiver, though. Of course, it is always possible that I freaked up the build somewhere!:533:
PS I'll try to take a pic after work, 2000 CDT

Some times you have to open up the right side of the selector on the inside.I have had to do this a couple of times,as it jammed against the reciever where it went through the selector hole..

AS promised, here's a pic- don't know if it really shows, but here goes.

I've had that problem before; the selector is hanging on the little dimple in the receiver. You have to take a thin file and work down the inside edge of the selector until it will go past. If you compare the Romy, you'll see it has a larger opening. Don't take too much off or it will get sloppy on the receiver.

You can also do it with a cutting disk as I did. Just kind of rub it on the selector.

I finally got it working! :2pistol: Only you guys were right about the FCG and I was wrong. Nothing new there, unfortunatly. All I had to do was crank on it a little bit, and it went in fine. However, the old one still won't fit, but I don't care anymore. So, thanks for the help guys. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten that much on Gunco.:thanks:

Now I need to parkerize it! After that, I can't decide between a set of plum furniture, (forearm upper & lower, pistol grip and 1 mag) or a quad rail forearm for a "tacticool" AK-74. I'm going (hopefully) to a build party soon, and plan to parkerize the rifle there. Stay tuned for more pics!:ak::coolgun:
