Gotta ask one more time. Does any drilling need to done for the sling eyelet pin? My test fit shows it shouldn't need much if any.

No, it should drop right in and you just peen it out. Now, once its in, you would have to destory it to get it back out.

Some erroneous info was given before and I knew my eyes weren't deceiving me.

My kit came from centerfire with a new barrel. There is'nt a notch for the sling pin,and it looks like it needs one. This is my first build ever, and I don't know what I'm doing. This is the last thing, besides painting,I have to do. I'm afraid to mess it up everything else turned out great.Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

I slid my triple-frame on and it was obvious it didn't need any hole drilled. I noticed the barrel is turned down with a "saddle" where the pin will go. Actually it is left high where the frame sits. Still there's always something that can go wrong so a picture is worth a thousand words.

When you solder the triple frame into place, you may need ot ream out the hole in the triple frame to accomodate the pin.

Also to make staking the pin a little easier, I drilled a small starting hole into the end of the pin hole, not more than 1/16" deep and about 3/32" diameter just to start the center punch once the pin was in.

Sorry its taken so long to get back. Not only am I build illiterate I'm also computer illiterate. But here's the pic. Several times I almost started drilling, but I thought mabe I just better slow down a little.

Thanks for the help.

I can't understand that unless like the other post said there is solder in there. The triple frame is located correctly I assume. There are high spots for it to rest on and a low area in between that the pin would pass through.

Yeah I know it's not the best picture, but what you can see in the hole is the barrel. I have another kit, and pulled out the barrel (they were identical), and the turned down area is forward of the sling pin hole under the grenade ring. Screw it I'm drilling it.

Drill it.

the turned down area of the barrel is for putting solder paste into befroe installng teh tripel frame so that the solder will wick into the gap between the parts.

the barrel will need drilling, but don't be suprised if the drill just chews out more of the triple frame material rather than cutting through the barrel, that barrel material is tough.

thats what I'm worried about. Maybe do it in stages? Starting with smaller sizes?
