im building a g3(or guess it will have to be called an hk91 when im done)
but theres a few things about it i havent encountered yet considering ive only been fiddeling with my cetme up until now.

first of all, the freaking flash hider. i know this is going to be simple and im just not seeing it. it deosnt seem to screw off, and i dont want to try to jame it so im assuming its held on with a clip and not screwed on, there are flutes that i can see the ends of in the barrel running lengthwise with barrel and there is a thin clip that is slottet into the FH that i can move around and flex outward a bit but i cant seem to get it to budge andmy little tiny movements of it dont seem to do anything to affect the FH's tightly-attached state(im trying not to break it so i dont want to yank in any direction). so how do i get it off? does the clip get moved then screwed off? clip pulled off then the FH gets yanked off?

second. theres lots of plenty helpfull stuff around the forum about cetme grip frames/trigger packs about how to assemble, disassemble and mod them... but upon looking into my G3 frame i noticed its slightly different and there are a few other parts that arent in my cetme. most noticibly a large pin that seems to contact the back of the trigger and other springs and such to keep it in there... never seen one of those before. so where can i get some help on how to mod that to semi auto?... or just take it apart correctly? or do i just have to buy a semi auto version somewhere, say one for an hk91 or ptr 91?

thanks alot, i would be dead in the water without this forum.

The retainer spring is on the inside of the flash hider. It's 15 x 1 mm RH same as cetme. They just take a little effort to get off.

The FCG's will interchange as a unit but not individual parts as you have noticed all the differences. I'll have to look for the G3 mod if someone doesn't already have a link to it.

If it looks like this, then don't worry about the spring.

You can't take it out until the FH is off. One end of the ring locks into the FH, the middle and most of the ring lies in a groove in the FH, and the other end is bent to make a detent that locks into the splines on the barrel to keep it from coming off under normal use. You may have to use a screwdriver or metal piece through the slots in the FH to turn it off. It will click each spline the retainer ring jumps over.

If you can wait a little while, I will put togeather a G3 trigger pack disassembly/assembly photo journal.

well thanks to your helpful info i finnally got that thing off, after i bent an old screwdriver. i ended up wrapping in in a thick rag and just using a pipe wrench, it was on there pretty good, i guess plenty of firing by the original owner then a heaping amount of thick cosmo helped to seal it on there pretty nice.

and thanks a whole lot for the triger pack stuff. with the link i can atleast get the thing taken apart and cleaned well as well as familiarize myself. rusty when you get that put together can you put it up on the site? i would be happy to wait. its probably going to take me some time to organize the rest of the build anyhow.

and thanks again, withought this site i would be sunk bigtime.

thanks pirate....only thing you didn't show (though it wasn't asked for) was how the navy lower was modified for sa

It looks like Rusty has a navy lower purchased from a ptr91. I'm not sure if those lowers are already clipped, but I would assume that they probably are since they are intended for semi-auto only used and don't have the pin hole.

If you have a HK trigger housing then a clip (and pin if you desire) must be completed to make the housing fit. Here are a few pics taken from Adam Webber's site, Hkparts.net detailing the work:

http://www.hkparts.net/Pictures/Services/Cip%20and%20pin%20work%201.jpg

http://www.hkparts.net/Pictures/Services/Clip%20and%20Pin%20work%202.jpg

I'm not sure if you have a HK lower that is unmodified to compare these pictures with. If you don't they probably won't mean much to you. However, if you do have a lower the difference is clear. Basically, the inside of the ears need to be trimmed back and the metal plate right behind the ears needs to be trimmed on the bottom some too. You're basically just trying to make it such that it slides right over the semi-auto shelf.

e-mail me at Eddie@neainc.com I have the directions zipped for the fcg conversion. I sent it to wonderwolf also if you have his e-mail address he might be faster for i can't seem to unzip it to confirm this file. I'll try anyways.
