Does anyone know anything about these weapons? I'm having trouble identifying some type of Luftwaffe sword that I have. The closest thing I've found is a FLAK regiment officers sword. It's exactly like mine except for the markings. Mine is marked with FLEA. 14 on the crossguard and the top metal piece of scabbard. The blade is marked F & A Hellbig/ Steinbach . Here's a link to the Flak sword> http://www.collectorsmilitaria.com/Flak_Regiment_Marked_Luftwaffe_Sword_082108.htm
Mine appears to be exxactly like this one with damaged or broken pommel. I've been desperatly looking for one. These appear to be just like the Luftwaffe swords except for having brown leather instead of blue. Here are some pictures of mine>

Any help would be appreciated.

I know nothing on German edged weapons but might be able to get a solid answer at the gunboard forums.

Would that be a better place to post? I'm a member there as well.

Worth a shot since it's mostly collectors on that board; I have a love-hate relationship with that forum cause a lot of them are purists who feel anyone who modifies a surplus firearm is too dumb to own guns and shouldn't be allowed near them. But when it comes to historical and accurate info it's a good source.

I got flak over there for wanting to replace the scabbard because of the poor condition of the leather and bent scabbard. The replacement is an authentic mint , never issued scabbard, so I thought it would be an acceptable replacement. All the sudden, I was the guy trying to build a "parts sword". I decided to only replace the broken pommel.
I found out that it is indeed a Luftwaffe sword and the original color of grip and scabbard leather are blue, not brown. Fl.E.A. = Fliegerersatzabteilung Regiment 14. Now getting a pommel for under 250.00. They were 50.00 only a year ago...shakes head.
Thanks for pointing me in that direction, Noskov.

Wait till you price the hanger for this, they were expensive years ago. This sword is the larger version of the 1st model Luftwaffe dagger.
Here is a picture of the dagger.
