Alright ladies n gentlemen, I have decided to start a G3 kit build, but i need ALOT of help. first off does anybody know where i can get a good parts kit for a reasonable price. (II) I think I am going to get a vector receiver (unless thats a bad idea :533: ), and C I think I am going to try a fresh barrel and trunnion. I will probably buy the parts as I find them (and I get the cash B-U-D-G-E-T.) I am really hoping to build a precision rifle :sniper:without spending to much. Oh and you guys are awesome. I cant wait :boing:

As far as receivers, you can't beat the JLD or PTR91 receiver for being as close to true HK as possible.

They also come with the trunion pre-installed which can save tons of hassle.

question, what are the differences between a fluted and non-fluted barrel?

I think on these barrels it is referring to the grooves on the exterior of the barrel (I think it aids in cooling) it doesn't have anything to do with the chamber.

yes the flutes are on the outside of the barrel depends on who you talk to on their opinion on what the flutes do
1 nothing
2 lightens a heavy barrel
3 adds more surface area to a barrel to aid in cooling
in my opinion both #2 & 3 i also belive that it will add structural strength to the barrel

Has someone called ORF to comfirm that on the fluting?

Remember HK's have a fluted chamber fellas...and without it its not going to extract.

The fluting is supposed to
lighten
help in cooling
stiffen the barrel

the small amount on the one shown is mostly for looks.

Does anybody know where I can get a good parts kit cheap? (I'm trying to keep the whole build under $800)
