It will be a few days before it arrives, but I found a guy over on SKS forums that had a mess of Albanian SKSs for sale!!
This one is listed as a 1968 production with original condition dark stock with very nice grain pattern. All matching with blueing 90%+ and excellent bore condition.
I paid $265+shipping, which is not too bad a deal these days. I see them on other boards and auctions going for $400.
So...now that I have officially become an SKS collector by accident....I need to round out my collection. I've got Yugos, Chinese and now Albanians covered. I need a Russian and a Romanian now... Keep your eyes peeled for me!!!! That means YOU Nalioth. I know you surf like a madman. Stir up a good deal for me!!!!

good deal and a nice looking rifle, that is one sks rifle i don't have yet. i thought i was the only one looking for one of them and a romanian, nalioth has been looking for me one also. my understanding is there is one new shipment of albanians coming in. should be here in a short time. i hope it doesn't get routed somewhere else. ( it is a very small batch of them). i am trying to remember which wholesale told me about them..

Since they were first imported and I think they are great rifles for the price with ammo at a reasonable cost! that one looks higher quality! good purchase! Let us know what you think!

A even rarer one would be the fabled north koreans or the chinese stamped receiver, too bad the east germans destroyed many of theirs rather than sell them.

Or a Polish one...but I guess they just too Russkie ones and slapped them in a new stock....or do Polish made ones exist...
You know I passed on a 49 Russian SKS once...another in a long line of missed guns I am kicking myself about.

Nice one Longhorn! Looks like you got a great deal.
I've got 2 SKS's, both Chinese, one is a "paratrooper" that takes AK mags. Looking at yours...I think I like the darker color better than the golden blonde wood of my Chinese SKS's. I notice the Ruskies are darker like that too. I think I like the Albanian handgaurd better also. Damn it!...now I want one!

No Polish ones only as you said Woodman, Ruskies in Polish stocks. There is a guy on gunbroker selling the Polish lammys.Almost got one.100 bucks with shipping was just a little too steep. But they are very cool looking stocks!

where you located in TX? I got a buddy with a really nice Albanian with some really good wood on it, that he was talking about selling a while back.
Ill have to talk to him and find out for sure, but he was talking about $400 a few months back... thats more than what that guy on that site is selling them for, but after shipping, and FFL, its still pretty close.
Let me know if you are interested, and Ill get some pics and such

Unfortunately, I am not located down in Austin with you anymore. I'm in Fort Worth now. HOWEVER....I am always looking for a good excuse to head down to my old stomping grounds for the right reason.
$400 is max market value. I scored mine for about half that. If for some reason your friend wants to talk turkey at this range, let me know....I'm always good for Shiner Bocks down at Hula Hut if that's where negotiations lead us!!!

Nice find at a good price. My 1968 Albie was $259 directly from AIM several years ago, and I believe mine was restocked.

I was lucky enough to get my all matching 72 from BobinSt.louis for 100$. Stock has some scratches and dings.Good condition metal, great bore.
I bought one of those replacement stocks from AIM,but never used it for restocking.
