Hi there everyone! I am new to the forums, but I have owned a stamped steel CIA cetme for a little over two years now and I love it.

Its come time though that I want to add a few things on and before I do, I wanted to ask a few questions and opinions of those who seem to be knowledgeable of the rifles on this forum!! I am a bit new to some of the parts so forgive me if I do not know the vocabulary well.

First off, I do wish to attach a decent mount onto the rifle but I have heard mixed reviews on different brands. For what I was really looking at was the B-Square mount. I know that it has the rear screw assembly to hold it in place, but I wanted to know how well it will keep the scope on the rifle without sliding, or even damaging that rear hole. Does it work well? Ive also heard of the low profile mount made by Leapers (Im supposing for airsoft?) and others. Are these any good to use on a stamped steel CIA? What would be my best bet?

Next up would be a replacement for the hand guard. I was thinking about purchasing a wide handguard but changed my mind. Instead (dont hate me lol), I found the Tapco RIS handguards supposivly made for the cetme. I found them on the Tapco site. Will these fit onto my cetme as is, or is there modification needed? Also, would these be of decent quality?

Also, I am looking to replace my crap CIA butt stock with an HK black one. I did not know where or what to buy as the ones that come with all hardware are expensive. My question is: If I purchase just the plastic parts, will I be able to attach it to the metal part the slides onto the receiver? (Sorry for lack of terminology, but the assembly you put the pins into) or will I have to use an HK one? If I can, how do I install it? Also, where is the best place to find a decent conditioned black stock?

Any help at all would be much appriciated!!

Thanks!

For the stamped receiver, the low-pro mount seems to be prevailing favorite. Some criticize the airsoft yet one or two used it since it is made from the same aluminum as some of the more expensive ones. A set screw through the hole in your receiver will hold it. I thought we had a decent thread dedicated to adding a mount but can't find it. You want the mount that doesn't squeeze the receiver but rather the force it top to bottom on the lugs. A claw mount is useless and that is first hand knowledge.
You will have to spend some big bucks to get a US black stock unless you settle for the CAI one. If you could add US parts to your rifle to keep 922r compliant then you could use the HK parts that Cheaper than Dirt and others sell for 20.00 bucks or so. If you bought a US Thermold magazine, that would give you three parts and keep you correct. What stock is on it now? Wood or plastic. If it is wood then you can swap to what you want since that would normally be the original stock and thus not US. Pictures if you can.
Finally the stocks themselves without the metal hardware can be swapped but with some fitting. Best bet is to ge the entire HK stock with hardware and trim the return spring ring at the tip. More help on that is available if you choose that route. Again, pics would help if you can post them. Good luck and ask more questions if you are not sure. drine

I seem to remember that Bluedog was the one who came up with the setscrew through the hole in the receiver, wasn't he?
Paging.......bluedog.

It is the black plastic set, not the wood set. I wouldnt mind going out to purchase the thermold magazine! If that means I can use the CTD black butt stock. Is there a cheap place I can get the entire essembly? I would much rather shave down the ring.

So I take it the low profile that is designed for airsoft is sufficiantly durable to withstand the recoil and such from the cetme? or Am I better off with the B-square?

Does anyone know anything about the Tapco RIS handguard?

Seems like it squeezes in versus up and down but again I don't have first hand knowledge of it. And on the Airsoft, I don't have the 1st hand either. The old sticky we had said the only difference was price. I'm not talking about one of the REAL expensive ones though. (so expensive I don't remember the name!) The ones I'm refering to are like 19.95 versus 39.95 and is the same unit IIRC.
Surely one of the guys here remembers who had the low pro mount. Richl has a scope but not sure of the mount. Check further before you buy one.

Here's the stock from CTD complete: Just search "HK" on CTD or use the Mfr#

Manufacturer: Military - Mfr# 19908/98 price $19.97 and that's the forearm and grip you can play with too.

The forearm you speak of I haven't seen in person. I saw it on the PC, looks handy and may require a little fitting but aluminum is easy as wood IMHO.
Good luck! Hopefully someone will add to the scope mount question. I thought I saved that sticky but evidently not.

Also the that model of CETME has the Spanish Flash device. If you swap it with a US one, that one part... I'd really look for a PTR black buttstock. That counts also. But if you use the TAPCO tatcial forarm and the US Muzzle device. that keeps your part count up to the required number. If you go the Thermold mag way, you pretty much have to use all Thermold mags to be safe... Also, an often overlooked part is the cocking lever... If you use a US made, that counts... PS.. SSWEE, a forum member makes one great US Flash Device... Send him a PM. I think it's under $50.00..
