I know there was a thread about this on the old forum. I want to build a AR and AK pistol. When I was checking a AR parts site it said that the receiver has to be manufactured and registered as a pistol. I know there was a clarification on this with the ruling from ATF. I looked and couldn't find anything. Anybody have a link to the rules on this.

It simply means the reciever must never have been assembled as a rifle. It should be a virgin reciever or a reciever formerly from a pistol. When you have it logged out in the "white book" simply have them log it out as a pistol. Then build it as a pistol and be happy.

I agree with Grifter. When you pick up the receiver from the FFL, make sure they log it as a pistol on the sale.

If you are building an AR pistol, you can get a rcvr pre-stamped with PISTOL on it for about 10.00 more. That should clear up any grey area as far as that goes for an AR.

if some one wants a stripped receiver for a pistol, i only will order it as a pistol receiver. it is worth the $10 extra. no hassel from any one that way.
