I would probably go with Apex myself. I haven't seen any other ones outside of Gunbroker.

I've built the Apex kits, no problems at all. Better ask him which flat he prefers though. Mine were BMP.

Any recommendations for where to purchase a barrel?

RCM is the place to get a barrel. Apex my have barrels in stock made by RCM I believe.

We sold out of HK33 barrels.
The ones we carried were made by Rim Country Manufacturing (RCM).
APEX does not have a retail location.
We have a sales office, but for now we do not have a customer pick-up counter.

Seems like HK parts is the only place to get them.

OOOORRRR, should I stalk gun broker waiting for something like this: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=294570137

From what I hear RCM has an exclusive with HKPro. You can ocasionally find one for sale on GB, I found one for sale in the WTS section of HKPro for a decent price last year. A couple of people on WG have bought barrels on BMP cheaper, still waiting for a build report from one of them.

I seem to see original german hk33/93 barrels on gunbroker, what's the deal on them? Sketchy quality? Or just play it save and get the RCM barrel?

Original barrels are best, just don't count towards 922r like the RCMs. If you can change something else, it doesn't matter.

Most oginal barrels are gunna be 1/12 twist unless you find a high dollar 1/7 HK33 barrell that will run you about 500-700.00 to get. People pull orginal HK93 barrel to convert their guns to 33k's or 53's and the couple that I've had still looked to be in great shape. I decided to go with better twist options that became available . For the price and accuracy you'll get out of an RCM CHF 1/7 twist barrel, it's hard to beat. I snagged a new SW 93 barrel 1/9 twist off of GB about 2 months ago for 75.00. These were the left overs from V93's supply. He had about 15 barrels at one time and I tried to snag a few but went a lttile higher on those than I wanted to pay. I wish RCM would make a 1/9 CHF barrel for the 93. Most of the American barrels will get better accuracy than original HK93 barrels but aren't all HF.

The SW/BMP barrel is the one I just pressed but havn't made it further in the build. It's nice looking and has muzzle attachment splines unlike the Green Mountain barrels that were used on C93's. The RCM's look real sweet though with that Nitride finish.

The RCM parts are exclusive to HKParts.net for their dealer.

So is there a difference between:
http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/HK-93-Cold-Hammer-Forged-Barrel-162p1052.htm the hk93 barrel

and the 33k barrel?
http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/HK-33K-Cold-Hammer-Forged-Barrel-162p2319.htm

looks likes it's just size? How will this affect accuracy? Any recommendations?

I don't know how much it will affect accuracy with 4" less. I would think by at least a 1/2-1" if not more at 100y. I would say ,get the one that best suites your needs. The 33k's a tighter package in SBR form or they look cool with the 4 prong flash hider too. 93 length to get better accurcy results.

If you buy the shorter barrel and don't SBR it you're going to need a long flash hider permanently fixed to the barrel. To me that's more of a pain than it's worth.
