I know there were two others from MS on the old board. Wondering ronin was one of them. Not sure if he's over here or not.

Central Mississippi checking in! How's it going Pidaster?
Busy busy. Just started a new job three weeks ago and didn't like it. Now I'm on to a different one today. Hopefully it will be better and allow me more time to play with guns. How's that restoration going?

Got money for the Old Capitol restoration, but it is not going to be like it was. More of a political history slant. Been meeting with exhibit designers and such. The new Museum of Mississippi History is in a couple of bills, but we'll have to see if they make it.

For some reason I'm not really surprised. I just don't understand why people have to try and alter history to make it sound good to them.

I'm sure it's better than Illinois. If gun laws sucked here I would move. What would bring you to Amory? There's not much there but some factories and cows.

One of three finalist for a corperate position with a railroad that has a office there.

Really. I had no idea there was a railroad office there. I used to live in Tupelo which is 30 mins away. Wasn't too impressed with that town either but go back to visit every now and then. Good luck with the job.

Concealed carry is $125 for the permit that last four years, $100 to re-up for another four years. Takes four months to get it from filing of paperwork. Can't carry in churches, bars, or federal property. Lot's of people have them. NFA guns, I know several people who have them and wasn't a big hassle to get it with the local police, just the paperwork and the stamp. When purchasing a firearm your NICS check is done immediately and if it clears you get it right then. If you have a carry permit you get it without the call. You can go to the MS highway patrol's website to get the rules of concealed carry.

Cool. After Illinois that almost sounds like anarchy LOL
This job is an immediate supervisor for the track department. I have the option of not taking it if chosen, but it would get me out of Illinois.

I enjoy Mississippi. Never been to far north but I've lived from Georgia to Texas. My top states to choose would be MS, FL, and GA. Tupelo is not a bad town but it has it's small town quirks even though it's not really that small of a town. It's just different, hard to explain. The country side up there, and most of MS, is nice. Have you been there to visit yet?

I've moved to many times to up and move somewhere I've never been before. I love it in MS, my wife likes the deserts of New Mexico better. Can't understand that for the life of me but oh well. Let me know if you get the job.

It isn't quite that bad, and we are trying to keep it honest. We are having some difficulty in trying to explain parts of the 1890 constitution, though. Overall, we are aiming for the "theme" to be a focus on the building and what transpired there. Since it was the capitol, it is mainly political stuff...I just happen to like the livelier aspects of history. That's all.

Fordruid,
MS is a pretty laid back place, but some of the towns can be very quirky. Oxford and Natchez come to mind immediately. Pay no attention to Hollywierd's portrayals, and to what folks who aren't from here tell you. Good luck with the job!!!

Gotcha. I've gotta go to the Bass Pro in Pearl sometime in the next few weeks. Maybe I can find a gun show on the same weekend.

Welcome to No. Central MS. I live about 25mi from Amory. Unless you like metropolitan areas, you'll probably be happy in Amory. Amory kinda reminds me of DuQuoin (except for the weather). If ya like bars, the beer joints in Lowndes Co. aren't far away.
The gun laws are just fine here. I have FFL 03, and used to have CC, but the CC is not really needed in MS. You can carry loaded firearms in your auto/mc (within easy reach), as long as you're not deer/turkey/squirrel, etc. hunting.
