View Full Version : My new Polytech M14s
Henry got one of these in the other day after trading his bushy varminter and kept talking about how much he loved it so I thought I'd browse around the gun show this weekend for one. Low and behold I came across a Poly m14s sticking out of a pile of shotguns for $750. I'm not that familiar with these rifles, but I saw the price and remembered how much I'd seen them around the boards for and I just had to have it.
Here are some photos

Hi,
I have the same rifle meaning the same importer. That importer supposedly went to the Polytech plant in China and told them what they wanted and so got a better product than the other importers! Thats the story I heard anyway. You got the same price I did which now is pretty good. I'd buy another at that price. Mine had a lot of headspace so I put in a Winchester bolt. Go to the AmBack forum and just type in polytech and you'll be reading all night! Congratulations!

had to torch it and twist the nut, it was a royal pain
and the set screw.. careful with that too

I'm jealoous, and I want one! Looks awesome, especially for that price. Some of the receivers I've seen have rough tooling marks unlike yours.
I think I read that the polytech's bolt metal is too soft, and you're best served by swapping it out with a U.S. made one. I'm not sure about that though.
So how does it shoot?

As already posted, the guys over on the AmBack board have a registry on the Poly numbers and can tell you the import times. have two Polys and they are great. The shoot as well as any of my other M1As. I have installed USGI bolt, op rod and triger group. My reciever, barrel & gas system have been fine for several thousand rounds.
You got a good price, enjoy.
