How do I make two parts one? I got my slide hold open lever and pin from Makarov.com today. Now I need to know the secret of attaching the pin to the lever. The shoulder on the pin is the same width as the lever and just a bit loose. I'm pretty sure super glue won't cut it. Thanks

You could try using a center punch to stake the lever right next to the hole in 3 places evenly spaced. This will cause the steel to deform into the hole, and you can then press fit the pin into place.

I was hoping to hear from you, Rusty. I did order a staking tool with the parts.
Maybe that and a little Liquid Steel or whatever it's called to fill the void between the pin and the lever?

Or you can just solder it too.

Hang on a second......

are those two parts supposed to be fused, or free moving?

I don't have my CZ handy, so I can't compare, but you may just have to put the pin through the lever, and then into the frame, and stake the small end of the pin to keep it from backing out of the frame.

This would let the lever move freely against the pin.

dont you stake the pin on the other side and the leaver rotates on the pin?this way the pin wont move but the leaver will??? rusty beat me to it

I already had a spring loaded punch/staking tool for mine but you should have a small screw and nut in the kit you can use in place of the pin.

just looked at mine and the pin is stationary both the pin & the frame are staked on the opposite side of the leaver.:grin2:

Ooops forgot to add that! Staked on opposite side to frame.

I decided it would help if I took it apart and looked. And LO. The lever doth rotate around the pin! That was eeeeasy. Thanks guys!

I didn't get the pin with the nut, just the plain pin. And that staking tool barely made a mark on it. The old pin had a deep punch mark in the center.
I used a hammer and punch to duplicate it.

The erason I asked in the first place is the gunsmith said the parts would have to be riveted togather. I didn't even really need a new pin. $9 for the lever, $3 for the pin, $12 for the punch and he was going to charge more than I paid for it.

The slide now locks back like it should.:clapping:

Yes, the 'smith did a great job of refinishing my CZ75, but I'll look for someone different for any future repairs on anything else.

Hey nevada, is that the factory hold open, or the mak.com slide release style one? I just got one of the latter, was supposed to be delivered today but UPS didnt knock loud enough....

Don't use the decocker with a round in the chamber. With the wear on the parts, it may allow the firing pin to ignite a primer.

I bought the stock replacement. I didn't like the looks of the thumb release type. Mak.com sent it Monday and I got it Thursday, Postal service.

You can't see any difference, of course, but this is the fully functional gun.
The supposedly unissued grey, instead of the re-arsenaled black. 1954.
