View Full Version : Thinking about getting a C&R license?

How long are these taking to process these days? Is it worthwhile or are the supplies of cheap C&R guns drying up. I recently bought a MN M44 at the local Big 5 sporting goods for $89 plus tax. Could I have done any better with a C&R and ordering it myself?
Thanks for any info.

My only regret about getting a C&R is now I have no extra money .
Since I got it last year I've bought about 10 guns with it. It's paid for itself many times over in transfer fees, not to mention the convenience of getting guns shipped to your door.

Thanks for the info guys. I ordered the packet of documents from the ATF and plan on filing those out in the next few weeks. I'd love to track down a few deals on enfields. I would like one in .303 and .308. Also, has anyone bought one of those Spanish models in .308. I think I saw some over on Samco Global's website.

I saved way more than the $30 on my first order with century.
Ahhh the days of the $49, 900round case of 8mm Yugo, those were the days:thumbup:

I hope to order an M24/47 in the next few weeks or either some projectiles or brass, or dies, or ammo, or magazines or a production pot, or some moulds...slings, need some of them too.

Matt,
If your in the same boat with many of us, that of having to pay $10-$25
per transfer from your local FFl, your C&R will pay for itself with the first
rifle you order. Also a lot of vendors have discounts for C&R holders.
Go for it!! But make sure you keep accurate records of all your transactions.
Good luck!

That's what I have heard. Do i have to track the rifles I bought before getting the C&R license after I get it?

Only the ones you obtain using the license.

I've had mine for a couple years now. Took 16 weeks to arrive. Seems the only person who processes the applications for my area was on sick leave. I asked if someone else could expedite my app & a supervisor did. Got it a week after I talked to someone.
I was buying a gun per month, sometimes more. Lost my job & haven't bought a gun in about a year. I was given 3 guns by my cousin last Thanksgiving. That was a treat.
As far as logging in firearms after you get your license; log in what you buy after you get the license, log out what you sell off even if you had it before the license. It's in the rule book.
