How hard is it to mess up the crown on a firearm. I hear about it all the time and it just seems to me that if you look at them funny they go bad. I don't belive it has ever happened to one of mine, but heck I could go down open the safe with a mean look on my face and kill them all. Just asking... BTW the bad crown stuff did not come from this website.

Using steel cleaning rods can damage a crown, over time (this is why the Mosins come with a muzzle covering cleaning rod guide)
Obviously, dropping it on the muzzle can do it.
So long as you put your bullets in the right end, and use brass or bronze or plastic/nylon cleaning equipment, you should be fine.

Actually it is easy to do, but harder than is told to be. I seen a crown
ruined by a screw together steel cleaning rod, the connections were
off just enough at the seams, to catch on the edges of the rifleing and
the steel to steel hitting caused the damage. I do not think that todays
aluminum screw together rods or the one piece steel rods are going to
do damage that easy. Just my opinion.

I did too...and I'm still a believer in them, but I had one actually break in a M1 once and it was a total be-yatch to get it out. I had to use a fish hook to pull it out....
