I want to start off by saying that I truely beleive this is the best country in the world. And that I know there are many well intentioned people that run, and work for it.

Having said that, there is something I've been thinking about. I've just finished reading another thred, and it's really come to the front of my thoughts.

I know that we try very hard not to talk about anything that would be illegal. And the addmins are very vigilant about finding people that are, and handling them. Here is the thing. I'm sure that this sight is scaned on a regular basis for different words and phrases. I'm sure some of us have used some of these unwittingly. So I wonder how many of us have files now, with who knows what agency, under the guise of national security just because we choose to practice the second ammendment, and because we like guns. It would be different if we were doing something wrong, but we'er not. And I for one don't like that.

I have this cynical side that thinks about this stuff and it wont go away. Sometimes it helps just to voice it.

cynicism, conspiracy theorist or conspirator.
It's all in from whose perspective you choose to view from.
There have been many warped people in a position of power even in the US. Hoover and McCarthy were a bit bent and they had files on many. Scary thought isn't it.

A fair modicum of scepticism is just prudent self protection.

Likewise too much scepticism becomes debillitating paranoia.

I would think it foolish and naive to think that the Intellegence comunity is not monitering the internet for possible threats.

I personally do not think that our level of discussion warrants close overwatch at this time, and that is partly due to the efforts of our Admins, Moderators, and Members policing ourselves. Whether or not that situation changes in the future is never clear.

But even if it does become a situation where the powers that be excuse their trampling of our First Amendment rights in order to deprive us of our Second Amendment rights, my personal response would be the same:

I defend my rights as a citizen of the United States of America to live in an environment without fear from my Government, as granted to me by the Constitution of the United States of America. And I also stand by my Oath of Enlistment, "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same".

Aside from obeying the ordes of the President, there is nothing in the enlistment oath that states defending the Government.

I am humble enough to realize that I'm not that important. They got a whole lot bigger fish to worry about.

They don't need the goverment to spy on you. Theres all sorts of companies in the business of collecting information on you and then selling it. Which is why spybot programs are so common. Also is why some politicians maps of the political leanings of a area are so detailed. The goverment isn't all united in anything. Many different branches of goverment and many different levels. The small town goverment could be spying on you just for some theifs plans with your land. There is always bound to be some small part of goverment breaking the rules and doing some illegal spying on American citizens. Hopefully it never becomes some large part of goverment.

Boy, and I thought this thread was going to be about the movie with Martin Lawrence.

If you want reasons to have a file, growing up where I did, heck I know more than a handfull of folks that were connected to the people in one way or another that commited the single worst domestic terrorist act ever done in this country, thus does that make me more suspect to the goverment or what? I guess it depends on what level of hype you beleive in and where the preceived paranoia can take you too.

I believe in the flag and want it stands for but there are some who would sell a family member to gain favor with those in power.:offhead:

some of us are use to being watched. when i was in the service i was given a "top secrete" clearance with some kind of upgrade. ( i don't remember). several years ago i was doing some work that they needed to run a security background check and i was suprised they were still keeping a check ( records) on me ( so were they). i also found out that my military records were in baton rhuge la. if you were ever in special ops, sf, seals, etc. in vietnam most military records were put there and are still classified. ( it took me 5 years to get a copy of my records and i had to go thru the white house to get them, some (several) pages are blacked out). i don't worry to much about it. i think the govt. has been watching us for a long time and have gotten better at it with all the new tech. there is very little you can do about it. you can request a copy of your file thru the " freedom of information act" .

Ya, I have nothing to hide, i'm the most boring person in the world. i hope that if there is some sort of watch on me that I can searve them coffe or something, they'd be bored crapless in a day or so.
I know that my "Grasshopper" name which I use for all my forums is in part in the KTO case. It was one of my posts about sending money to an account for 80% receivers that most likely caused the FBI, BATF to pull the trigger on KT too soon (I feel):icon_neutral: and I have been named on page 18 0f the complaint of the Government vs. KTO specificly. Other than thar................:book: let em read. I tryto police other sights as well as quote law to people that want to screw around with firearms.
In case anybody thinks it's ME who is tracking you:eek:........................you never know!:nonono:
