I've been thinking about getting a trilux scope for my L1A1. For you guys that have them...do you like them?

I mean I know they are sort of heavy compared to a modern military scope, but I like the way they look on a FAL.

Are they sturdy and reasonably accurate for a battle rifle scope? Worth the $250 price they are going for?

I just sold a minty Trilux with reticle illuminator and top cover to another collector.

My problem with the Trilux was getting a good sight picture with the rubber eye piece. The scope uses a roof-prism that offsites the line of sight to the left instead of over the bore (like the iron sights). This does not matter at typical engagement ranges.

An Eotech A550-series red dot sight is a better choice if you want a more modern sight. Use an A.R.M.S. No. 3 top cover to mount you Eotech.

I've shot Henry's FAL with that scope and I really like it. I'm actually looking for one for the FAL I'm getting

I talked to henry about his, and the dealer in Dallas at the gun show had them for a good price, I think the look is about as good as you will get on the rifle for sure. You might PM Henry, and ask him if he has a number of the dealer that sold him his.

if you want, whenever i have a chance to visit my range back at waco, i'll fire some comparison targets for you, with irons and with trilux.

pretty sure you've heard it said many times, it's not a sniper scope, it's a battle scope.
crystal clear optics, lit sight post(you can either tritium revive it like me, or buy the LED light) for night, quick quick target accusition.

true, the offset optics does take a bit to get used to, but at 4X, as long as you have it zeroed with the spotting scope, it honestly doesn't make that much of a differnce at 100m-600m, can you tell the difference between a 4 inch target and a 2 inch target standing 100m away? it's good enough to tag a commie in the torso at 600m, and it's what it was designed for. plus it has a short/long range cam to adjust the bullet drop.

the absolute perfect optics for an L1A1, but not so much for a metric rifle in my opinion. i like the option of taking the scope off and using my irons every now and then. again, i'm more of an iron sight shooter than a scope shooter, i jsut enjoy it more. (i guess works good for me, by saving me optics money!!)
other than that you also have to cut the eye cup for a metric sight to fit in since it doesn't flip down.

at night? the trilux is a must. past 200m? i'd def. slap it on. hauling your rifle around for 10mi before you see your trophy hog? take it off, and slap it on when you see it, it won't loose zero. it's built like a tank so you can probably toss it at a wall and still have it to work. i'll just say, it'd give you an edge if you were fighting the IRA.

here are some teaser photos:
