I was doing a search and didn't find much about the Daewoo here
except for the recent post about the redone Woo that looks like
an SBR.
My question is, would any of you consider getting one instead of
a more current rifle like the SIG 556, Robinson XCR or even an
SLR-106 from Arsenal?
I've been looking for one of these 3 rifles but ran into a DR200 converted from preban status with a folder and flash hider. I think they are kind of a gamble with so few available parts but what does everyone think.

Thanks for the reply. The more I look the more I like the Daewoo.
However, have the lack of parts availability been a problem for you or do the Daewoos not have a lot of issues?
I see a couple of companies make some stuff for the Daewoo but it would almost seem best to have a spare upper or a parts gun to keep one going if you wanted to depend on it.
This is one reason why I'm a little apprehensive to get the Robarms
XCR. I think its the best of the three 5.56 rifles I mentioned in my post but I wonder where you'll get parts when Robarms is out of business in a few years.

I put a lot of rounds through the 1st woo.....had a worn out barrel....Good news is AR barrels work! Only real thing to look at is wear on the upper from the bolt rotating pin....a little wear is normal.

I would say $700 tops on a DR-200, a lil more for a DR-300

Is that $700 price for a DR-200 the price for one converted from post ban configuration? For example, is a DR-200 with a Ace folder and a flash hider worth more $700?
BTW-Thanks for all the great feedback.

all the one's i've seen were in the $900-$1100 range, not that I've actually seen all that many. for $700 I'd seriously consider getting one...

check out Gun broker and local gun stores.....They pop up on occasion.
700 for a stock config ( new kit folder just under 200) but do you ever see profit on gun mods?

Hunter, try this one,
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/wbardwel/public/nfalist/atf_letter32.txt
Discusses a mak-90 but both rifles are I believe on the banned from import list, which should make the treatment the same, thus you have to go thru 922r compliance. Lucky these things use ar mags thus three us parts right off. Just not sure what else they use.
Heres an copy of a atf letter specificaly on the rifles in question
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/wbardwel/public/nfalist/atf_letter25.txt
If you read they say 13 parts less the mag(3 more) but mags are useally us made(at least all of my ar ones are).
Use these as a starting point, I am not a laywer, didnt even stay at the Holliday Inn Express either.

I have had a DR200 for years. LOVE IT.........
Paid $650 for mine and heard at one time they were like $300. Don't care it was well worth the $$$$. I hear it is very tough to get parts, but I have never had a problem and I have even shot Wolf ammo in mine.

In the day before the import ban, these were a third less than a new AR, but even then I hesitated due to the trouble of getting parts for them.

Well, it looks like I will now trip the trigger on a Daewoo DR-200. One
I was dealing on here in Colorado now appears to be mine. I'll be traveling on Monday to pick it up and I'll post a picture or two here as soon as I can.
After doing research on them it appears there are enough parts available to keep one running for a long time as there are a couple of sources now that have some parts and accesories. Also they are bringing out more American parts.
Don't fear the Woo!

AZEX arms is the Daewoo specialist in the U.S., going so far as to fabricate parts and do conversions. There are a lot of people that love them. If I were buying, I'd go with a couple hundred bucks more and a Sig 556 because of the parts issue, but I'd buy a Daewoo at the right price.
