I was thinking of ways I could get some extra cash for buying accessories and such, and was wondering if any of you guys would be interested in sending me your stocks to do some camo, and/or custom paint jobs on them... I could do just about any pattern once I get set up with the right colors. Let me know if there's a market.
Here's mine... I painted it in one night, and didnt take a whole lot of care in doing it. The slim handguards may be a problem to paint with all of the indentions and such, but Ill try one here after a while and see how it goes.
If anyone likes the idea, and maybe wants a wide forearm, and buttstock, or a wood stock set painted, let me know, and Ill work out how much time it will take and how much and all that.
Just trying to see if theres any interest in it.

I was thinking about getting mine done head to toe in OD at one time. How much of a problem would it be to do that?

the whole rifle?
I dont know about that, as Im doubting the strength of spray paint on metal. It sticks really well to plastic, but for the steel, Im thinking duracoat would be a better choice. I could paint your stocks OD green easy, but so could you.
I dont have an FFL, so we'd have fees on both ends. I wouldnt mind doing a Duracoat job, but Ive never done one, and would want to practice on something of my own before I ever did someone else's. The whole process looks straight forward, but I cant afford to get in over my head.

Yep, the fees are what I was wondering about. Twas just a thought though, but I will keep you in mind if I decide to replace the wood with plastic.

Jfowl, how about a price? Might help if we knew the cost.

Jfowl - I'd highly recommend Duracoat. I've done a few pieces in it and there's no problem with adhesion to metal if you fully degrease it first. In fact I took their day long class on it a few months back. Luckily I live less than 100 miles from where they are so it wasn't a problem.
I'd also highly recommend shooting the high wear areas with a few thin coats of matte clear, especially on cammo pattern areas. Not only does it add another layer of protection but it evens out the sheen you get from the different colors.
BTW, nice job on the handguard. Looks great.

Guy's I'll tell you this. He got that Wide forearm from me. It was beat to death, scratches and chips. It was an FMP OD Green forearm. It looks cherry now. I got it in a box of surplus barrels and it was on the bottom for I don't know how long. He made it a work of military art. I wish I had half of his skill!!

I did hit the entire stock set with a satin coat of polyurethane. It held up quite nicely even with the bipod rubbing on it, and the sling swivel.
How about $50 including return shipping for a woodland camo pattern on either a G3 or Cetme wood, or a wide handguard stock set. The slim ones are going to be trouble due to the indents.
Im gonna get around one day to painting one of my slimmy's to see how it goes, and once I find out, Ill update this.
As far as shipping goes, itd be easier and cheaper for both parties if the recoil rod was taken off.

Thanks for the kind word Seattle. Im still trying to find the time to get started on the other wide forearm. It should turn out nicer than the first as its in better overall shape.
