I'm curious what everyone thinks. Should the site allow silly non-gun topics and idle chat and banter or be a serious gun site only.

isn't there a non-gun part on the forum?

Yep, we're in it. I'm just curious what the general opinion is here about it :)
I don't want to go 'against the grain' if most want to keep it serious;)

To hell with that, life is serious enough.

One of the things I love about this group is that we don't take ourselves too seroiusly all the damn time.

let the sarcasm and jokes run loose!

I don't think this has ever been an issue on Cetmerifles or here....we always cut up and carry on.

Humm? Why do you care what "everyone" thinks fordruid? Maybe if you have a personal opinion you should take it up with M1 Tanker as he is the owner and proprietor of the site. Hell your post is " Silly non-gun-idle chat and banter" :kick: :slap:

We're one big happy family. I don't see any issues if any of us want to joke around...but know when it's time to be serious.

I have absolutely NO problem with M1 Tanker and the staff.!!!!
I just saw some posts were people seemed to take exception to frivilous posting so I wanted to make sure I wasn't too far 'in the minority';)
Presently and in the past I have been an admin and a mod at various sites, where my 'claim to fame' was that I defended the new guy. Sometimes I get carried away so I check every so often to make sure that I haven't 'crossed the line' :grin2:

The reason I like to hang out here is because the guy's that know what there doing give advice without the attitude, and help out. I have gotten more from these guy's than any other site just from reading there great info, yea, I say let's keep the silly non-gun topics, idle chatter and banter. Keep it light and enjoy the hobby.

This is one of the few places that you can learn a lot about all kinds of topics, give you opinions freely(good or bad), and keep 'em rolling in the isles at the same time. If it changed I don't think I'd like it here anymore. if I wanted serious, there are plenty of other forums to visit. If anyone seems too uppity, tell them to lighten up and have a nice day. :) works for me.

Since this is coming fairly recently after my post in another thread I can only assume that I could in some way be a small part of the reason this thread exist. I don't have a problem with stuff other than guns being discussed hell if you looked I started a thread a few days ago call "Rough couple of Days" here in the GD section it had nothing to do with guns it had to do with me snowmachining and bottling some home brew. I have made a lot of friends here (or cetmerifles) none of which I have been able to meet yet. Maybe I should have differentiated between post whoring and non gun related posts. Post whoring is what I consider bullshit ie just making a post to fluff your post count and increase your rank. Non gun related would be not necesarily serious and obviously not gun related but wouldn't be up just because some one has penal post envy or small post syndrome. Personally I dislike the post count idea on forums as all to many times I have seen where post count = intelligence which I have found to not always be the case. anyway I am boggled by how my last post could be interpretted the way I think it was. maybe its that I was around during the big post whore debacle where perro created a avatar for those caught post whoring and people got up set abou it perro was upset at the ammount of bandwidth taken up by numbers of threads and posts with one words some would write paragraphs using one word posts. sorry for any confusion. now back to your regularly scheduled non gun related general discussion forum section that I actually take part in

Big 10-4 on post whoring Alaskagrown! That's :bull: I can see a lot of that going on here already. Tanker may have to come up with a deterrent on that.
How's about if you get caught post whoring you get busted back to private!

I think a lot of the post-whoring came from this being a new site. Everyone started at scratch.

I caught myself doing it as well....... No real harm done I guess, but Im thinking that as the site ages, the whorish posts will stop, and everything will really get down to the nitty gritty.
