Well, to alleviate the temptation to fire a couple rounds through the HK94 I recently picked up, I thought I'd work on the HK51 that I traded an AR to lilwoody for.

After thoroughly cleaning the rifle out, greasing her up and exchanging some parts in the trigger box, I was able to go through 250 rounds without a hickup the other day.
Now, gotta find something to alleviate the temptation to open up my only bottle of KnobCreek.

Very nice rifle you have there. And the Knob Creek sitting in the case was a nice touch. Congrats!

I actually replaced the entire trigger pack with one from my other cast receivered CETME's. To test out my findings, the trigger pack from the 51 was used on the CETME and it was doing the same thing...shooting off one round, FTE..shooting 5-6 rounds here and there, then FTE. The pack in the 51 now is working fine; put it back in the CETME and it worked fine. So, I now have to get a replacement trigger pack or try and fix the one I took out of the 51.

LOL, most folks believe I took the moniker of "KnobCreek" after the machinegun shootout, but I actually selected it due to my little bout with the bourbon. Serves as a reminder to never over-do a good thing.

What type of handguard is that on the rifle? If I were to attempt to do that with my Cetme, would I have to cut down the Cocking tube?
thanks,

The handguard is similar to an MP5's or an HK94's (I was able to get one of my 94's to fit). As far as building one from a CETME, yes, the cocking tube would have to be cut and welded and a shorter bolt carrier, as well as a shorter guide rod and spring.

Well done! I, like many others here thought the worst and figured some kind of re-engineering was in order. Glad you got it running. You can't fix the trigger pack?

thanks,
Check my post on "bubba has me thinking"; I am doing just that.
There is more to it than just cutting down the cocking tube; it will have to be moved back to accomodate the shorter hand guard. And one off an MP5 works fine, there are a couple pics in my thread with one on a CETME.
Main problem with the CETME comes in if you want a shorter barrel, since no one makes different angle LP's like they do for the G3. But I am not shortening the barrel, so hopefully I won't need it.

Sounds like the ejector is riding too low, or is borderline short.
