Remember there are no new machine guns in the US since 1986. So MP5s are running $18K :)

good luck with that one...
uzi's and macs and the alike are the cheapest. You can find some in 9mm and 45acp for under 5k.
BAsicly it comes down to this.
Find out if they are legal in your area. Call your local sherife, da or police chief,
If they are legal then you can proceed, if there not they you need to move.
Find a class three dealer in your state.
Find a nfa weapon any where in the country, buy it, the dealer should help you fill out the paper work. and have the weapon transferd to your class three dealer, they will hold it for you untill the paper work goes through. Some class three dealers may have a on site range, and will you allow you do fire your weapon on site.
MAke an appointment to see your local sherif, police chief, or da. Let them know that you want to buy a nfa and ask them to reveiw your local background. Then at the apointment ask them for a signed letter saying. "That they have no reason to believe that you will use this nfa weapon for any porpose other then legal activities, and that its is legal in your area. "
Send in the paperwork with fingerprints and a passport photo. along with a check for the 200 dollar nfa tax. Also include the Chief leo's sign off letter.
Wait a while and then if you check out clean, you can have your mg.

"I COULD BE WRONG, BUT".... AFAIK, at least what I've heard, is that, in FL, the CLEO Letter is NOT gonna happen. (Chief Law Enforcement Officer Letter= the letter referenced above)
"However", you can form a corporation, and the corporation can buy the weapon w/o the CLEO Letter. I "suppose", then, that an officer of the corp could lawfully posess it...? Somebody correct me on the above if I'm wrong.

Its all very similar to getting a CHL really. Just a lot of paperwork and waiting, and a bit of $$.
I will be buying a 22 silencer as soon as I can save up the funds for it.... probably next tax return check... Silencers are much cheaper to buy than NFA weapons though. You can convert an AR fairly cheaply I think.

you don't need a letter the form 4 has a spot for the cleo signature
find a class III dealer in your area and sit down with them they will be able to go over the ins and outs of the process and your area
