Hey everyone,
A friend is looking for a practice piece for his military qualifications and just keeping in practice afterwards, looking for a inexpensive Beretta in good shooting condition, cosmetics are not as important. Can do cash or trade, would prefer FTF in TN as it would be cheaper than shipping, but am negotiable.

1) Military pistol qualifications can be performed with one eye shut and one arm behind your back, while standing on one leg while talking to someone on your cell phone.
If you're worried about it, you'll probably do quite well.
2) look at police trade-ins for your Berettas.

I know its easy, but still nice to have a practice piece, as compared to him using my 45 or 22 all the time... that and its an excuse for a new gun, how can you go wrong with that?

Any chance you could get me contact info for any of your local dealers if you see them carrying them?
Would appreciate it,

almost any good gun store had 10-20 92Fs hanging around all over the place. Look for an older one with an all metal guide rod, not the cheap plastic one that came on later editions to save money
I bought my wife a 92F for the same reason. She put 300 rounds through it before her last qualification and then out-shot the entire Fort Bragg JAG Corps the next day. If you don't shoot a pistol much it's hard to do well on a static 25yard pistol qualification with a pistol you haven't shot before. You get 40 rounds then you go home.
Of course she didn't tell anyone about her practice session the day before.
I once had a pistol in 18th Airborne Corps Artillery that shot 5 feet low. I had to aim over the top of the targets head to get a hit. Luckily we were shooting pop ups (always easier cause they care where they get hit) and I shot expert, but I would have been lost in the sauce if I had gotten a static 25 yard range.:America:

Taurus made a pistol similar to the Baretta 92. I shot one a few times and it was fine. Not as smooth as the Baretta, but the overall feel and function was the same. If given the choice I would take the Baretta, but the Taurus would also work as a trainer.

looked into that, the taurus does have some minor differnces, including IIRC the safety is moved. Simpler to just go with the beretta imho.

you can qualify on a military range with a good set of darts.
if the army would let me, i've got an M9 you could HAVE.
I have a Taurus PT92 and I swear it's blessed. It is almost impossible to miss with it. Certainly a testimony to the good design work Beretta put into the original. It has digested any brand I've ever fed it. The trigger stroke is long though. Seems to take forever to reach the break, but I'm spoiled by wheel guns.
