Nice find - amazingly good condition. Unfortunately it will be gutted/ruined (only fit for display) or destroyed by Australian authorities. Not a gun friendly country.

Interesting configuration for machine-gun to end up in civilian hands. Over the years I have seen reports of infantry full auto weapons being found stashed away.
War trophies that were not deactivated or weapons stolen during or at the end of WW2
The story surmises it probably belonged to the RAAF at some point.
But it could have been a weapon stored for some type of reserve use in the 1950's and stolen from the armory
I wonder what the real story is
