Well I took my 98/22 out today and was pleased. I was not expecting too much as the only ammo I had was some reduced load reloads I put togeter with some very old IMR 4198 and some bullets I had pulled from some dud Turk ammo years ago. However what I found was that the rifle shot very well! At 50 yards I was 3 inches high above POA and at 100 yards I was about 8 inches above POA with the 150 grain bullets and about 4 inches high with 198 grain bullets. The bad part is some of the rounds did not go off proving the powder was too old. I had a feeling this was going to happen so no big deal. Now I know to just throw that powder away. I didn't measure groups as I could tell the loads were not consistant but even at that the groups were groups and not patterns.

When I got home I gave the rifle a good go over and cleaned all the cosmoline from the trigger, magazine well and tore the bolt apart. Now the rifle is all cleaned up and I picked up some new bullets and will start working up loads. This one is a keeper!
