For CETME, I am starting to think it might be the only way I reach the correct number of compliance parts. Who is selling them? And are they really crappy mags, seems I've read that somewhere here?

If you can find Thermolds I have had great luck with them. I think that there is some plastic ones no body liked though.

Smokehouse, I have been getting them from an ammo dealer in oklahoma, but I think he only sells at shows. You might try to look around at some of the shows.

If you use US made mags as a compliance part, doesn't that mean you have to get rid of any other mags you might have?

If you use US made mags as a compliance part, doesn't that mean you have to get rid of any other mags you might have? No, it means you can't use non-compliant mags in that particular rifle.

This is why most of us don't use mags as compliance items.

I wouldnt say to use the mags as a permanent solution, but they are nice to have as a "in the meantime" type thing. With US made parts being so hard to find for a build, or conversion, the mags are good to have so that you can do the build or conversion and stay legal while you look for US made parts.

And then you have the guys who just love the Thermolds period, and use them and no other.

On useing mags for compliance, century has been known to do it, with both the cemes/g-3 and ak rifles. Its not a ideal solution but popular with the fal folks too. Just have to make sure you keep the mags compliant.
