Is there anything else to use other than the brass with little ends that break off?

I havn't seen anything. But you can find them sometimes on old surplus ammo, at Numrich gun parts, (Not Cheap) and at http://www.reesesurplus.com/miscellaneous.html

To begin to see if stripper clips would interchange, you could check shell holders for reloading, thus if the shell holder worked then the clip should hold the rim. As for taper, you can just look at photos of the loaded clips or the casings to see if they are simular. The toughest thing would be to get your hands on one and see if it will fit and strip thur the receiver. Or just look it up on line, almost everything has been tried once and some one posted it on the web.

Mauser strippers can be used, and I haven't tried them, but how about .308 strippers used to charge the M14 mags? Tapco was selling boxes of 100 repros for cheap to use with the stripper clip top cover for the FAL.

I've tried .308 strippers...much too tight a fit for the cartridge. I use Swedsh 6.5 Mauser strips all the time. They work perfectly. The source I used was Samco like the ad above. Most of the Swede charger strips seem to be stainless. They feed smoothly and last for a very long time. The original Springfield strippers were intended for a single use. They are a real piece of junk. I have a few for collector reasons but I never use them.

I've got some 6.5 clips coming,so if they work good I will let you all know. The m 14 will not work,I have tried that. Also read that 7x57 clips for 93 mauser are suppose to work, but I do'nt have any to try.As soon as i find some I will try them also.
