And NO! I won't be building one. My CETME has taken all my patience for this year.
I'd like to get one. My brother runs a store with CAI AK's for 389.00. They look really nice. Having run in to CAI and their CETME work, I question if they can get this right.
Any suggestions?

Which ak model is it, a wasr-10 or a yugo underfolder. That makes a difference on which one your are getting and what the general opnion of the ak is. The wasrs they dont make, just convert to high cap. On the yugo underfolders I am not sure they even make them but they do buy the receivers from others.

I'll have to check it closer. My father in law bought one and I don't know the type either but it had metal shavings in it. CAI on the receiver.

My best guess is with metal shaveings its a WASR-10 because they have to open up the mag wells to get them built. The folder is easy to see, the wasrs are more plain jane.

The Yugo underfolders are actually being made by CAI and from what I've seen of them, they are really nice looking. I, however, am going to stick to building them. I get more enjoyment out of it, and besides, I've already invested enough money into purchasing the tools.

I can't speak to the WSAR but I just bought two Yugo Underfolders from CAI in advance of the AWB returning. These are my first AKs after many FAL, CETME, HK and M1As. CETMEs and FALs from Century had me a bit nervous but after two trips to the range I am pretty happy. Fit and finish are decent and after a few hundred rounds thru each there have been no issues. Mags all seem loose, but function well.
The only issue was with the Ultimak frt mount designed for the Yugo M70. On one rifle it would not fit due to the front gas block being misaligned but it dropped right intoplace on the other. The current ones are coming with black poly grips and hand guards that fit well but look kind of cheesy. Some flat, crinkle finish spray paint worked wonders.
