I sure didnt think so, and hope not as I bought a case and have shot it through several of my rifles with out properly 'corrosive ammo' cleaning them.
Note 3 at the bottom of the page, WTF? (http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2006/308vs762nato3/index.asp)

South African has the "R1M1" headstamp, just to clarify. I've fired late 70's and early 80s SA, no probs. I am used to dealing with corrosive in my mosins, so I know what it looks like when the salts rust the bbl a bit.
NEVER seen this in CETME with SA.

I think maybe they were just assuming it was corrosive, since it's milsurp ammo. I've shot SA through my CETME and my brother's FAL and never had any problems with corrosion, even after waiting a few days to clean or only doing a "light" cleaning (swabbing the barrel with oil).

both my C-91 and my 1992 vintage TRW M-21. I have found no evidence of it being corrosive. Further I have found it to be very accurate in both rifles. Great ball ammo in my opinion.

I have shot it thru my CETME as well as a couple of other rifles
and have had no signs of it being corrosive, I agree that the tester
was probably erring to the side of caution or mis-informed himself.
