Is there any way to tell what receiver or history a CIA is? As in seeing a # on a auction site and trying to tell what it is.

If its on an auction site, it outta have pics. The rear sight on a stamped receiver is welded on, and theres no saddle for the scope mount in front of the rear sight on a stamped either.

I dont know if thats the exact info you were looking for, so if its not, just be more specific.

Yes that helps.I was also wondering if you could tell if it was a century bild or a build on their receiver,by the # You know how some people seem to either not know or just plain misrepresent the rifle.

Honestly, its probably a crapshoot either way. Some private builders can build a Cetme better than Century, and Im sure there are some home done hack jobs.

See if you can get him to either:

a) take some measurements of bolt gap, bolt length, carrier tube gap

or

b) give you an inspection period to take these measurements yourself, along with checking for canted sights, and whether the trigger pack needs to be shimmed.

If its a cast model, and is a Century build, typically these are in better shape, and more care was taken. Thats a broad generalization though to say the odds are better with a Cast SS, not to say that they are all perfect.

If you'll give us a little more info, or the address to the auction, maybe we can figure out if its a good deal or not.

My honest opinion is to buy one off the board here. Then you know youre getting one that has some correct measurements taken, and that some, if not all, of th ebugs have been worked out.
