Have you guys heard about this. He has not declared himself a candidate yet, but leaves the possibility open until this summer. I really liked our last actor/president. What do you think?

Who's Fred Thompson?

Senator Fred, was our senator for a while, he has good sense and doesn't let the lobbys run him, wrote him on a project NRA was working on while he was in office, He replied with his answer on the senate floor as to why we didn't need the legislation, he made a valid argument why we didn't need it (project exile I think).
I met him at his birthday party in Nashville when he was running, talked to him and told him there was a gunshow in town that weekend, He went down and introduced himself to the folks that were there and visited with them.
He might be the best hope for the Republicans.
If he hasn't changed his opinions I would probobly vote for him.

I remember meeting him at the nashville gun show a while back. He seemed to have his head in order. Beats the other candidates by a lot, I'd vote for him.

From what I understand he was a good senator when he was in office and is very pro-gun. I too have heard he is a man of his own thoughts and does not allow lobbyists to push him around and instead thinks what is best for the people. I like him and would definately vote for him. Anything is going to be better than trying to decide between Hillary and Guliano, neither of which give a damn about the Second Amendment.

I agree. He gives me hope that there might actually be a choice worth voting for in the upcoming election, as opposed to the traditional lesser of two evils.

Why the hell not right....I would consider giving him my vote if he ran. What really sucks is there are so many pro's and con's with every canidate that it pisses a lot of people off to the point of not voting.

Has he announced his candidacy? If not, what do you think of Fred Thompson?

He has...and I have done little (no) research on FT. I have a bit of time though... I work for a national radio syndicator and I have had Sen. Paul on several of the shows I produce (several times) and I like almost everything he says. I love the fact that he has voted no on almost everything put in front of him (including the patriot act) earning him the nickname Dr. No (he's a pediatrition by trade). I am a "Harry Brown" libertarian so I really like Sen. Paul. Decentralize and repeal!!

Just remember your vote goes only to those who are on the ballot, November 4th, 2008. Thus if your canadate or one you can agree with their view points is not on that ballot, no matter what you dont get to vote for them as President.

If gun rights are important to you, supporting some one with simular viewpoints might be a good idea and hopefully a canidate that can win.

Found a thread with a trancript of an interview with Fred Thompson on Fox News Sunday here:

Loved this:

WALLACE: So this federal court — appeals court ruling this last week, I guess Friday, in the case of D.C. — you'd be perfectly happy to have people have handguns in their homes?

THOMPSON: Yes. Absolutely. The court basically said the Constitution means what it says, and I agree with that.

And this:

WALLACE: Gun control.

THOMPSON: Well, I'm against gun control generally. You know, you check my record. You'll find I'm pretty consistent on that issue.

On that list you forgot Superior Court Justice for the State of NewYork. I thought he played a judge for a couple of episodes earler before he became DA on the series.

Fred will be filling in for Paul Harvey for the next two weeks. He was also on Hannity's radio show today. Like what I hear.

I think he is waiting for some episodes to air on tv before he announces anything. Once he starts they can't air anything he has been in and since it was already scheduled he is wiating for it to wrap up. That is what I've heard. He is doing well in the polls and has a good chance if he announces his bid just might pull it off. I wish us the best, and that will either be him or Ron Paul.

The biggest thing is does he have the support, to get into the deep pockets of republican supporters, many of the anounced canidates do have that fun raising ablity. Thats important, how much cash to get you thru to New Hampshire and Iowa next year.

I heard him deliver a speech a few weeks ago. I liked everything that he said and I was very impressed. I think that he is an honest and persuasive leader with solid values who deserves support if he chooses to run.
