What do y'all think of this?

Ignorance on the sellers part or "government conspiracy"? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=83277270

...what's the issue?

It's an illegal weapon. Under the law, pistols cannot have vertical foregrips. The ad says NADA about having your Class 3 dealer involved or AOW or anything along those lines.

'Skippy' just thought it looked 'cool' and slapped the VFG on, evidentally.

So if I took the vertical foregrip off my black ak and slipped it on the rail on my walther p22, I'd be in the wrong... huh... retarded...
I'd guess just ignorance on the part of the seller, that's just one of those laws that make absolutly no sense.

I just sent the seller an email pointing that out... I wonder how he'll respond?

i'm voting for ignorance. Most people don't even know about the VFG law with pistols.

I dunno, it seems to scream jailbait to me. The PLR at the local gunshop is $550, stock. No light, forend, grip, muzzlebreak, etc. The fact that this one is being sold with SO many goodies, with no reserve, at $442? Seems fishy.

Wouldn't that be entrapment?

Wouldn't that be entrapment?Perjury doesn't seem to bother the Alphabet gang. . .

One thing that I allways wonder about is the add in SGN with the full auto sear thingys for the AR? That seems like a frist class ticket to the pen.

Whats the deal with the Auto Ord M 1928 pistols(Tommy guns with no butt stock) How could they sell those, they all had v grips.
I thought I saw Polish AKs with v grips and short barrels, but were NFA OK as they had folder removed for good.

I don't think so. If that was the case, I think they would go for alot more then $105. If you had a real M16 you wouldn't need this peice.

I think the Tommy guns were grandfathered in.

you're right, that is certainly NOT a registered transferrable sear :icon_neutral:

Well if it's coming from Detroit it's got to be legit.

Back to the original topic, the seller has 0 feedback and the auction started at .01 cents with NO reserve (theoretically, someone could have won the auction [and the object for sale] for .02 cents).

It just smells fishy.

Sorry nalioth, I didn't mean to Highjack your thread, It just reminded me of a question I've had for awhile, I guess I could call the guy and ask hm, but I didn't want to be placed on a watch list :)

If you won the pistol and took the grip off your golden, in ten seconds you'd be legal, I think the guy just doesn't know.

My local gunshop sells the same set up minus the vfg for $500.00

I imagine the guy is just not very smart/experienced with online auction, but it certainly is sketchy at best.
if it were the ATF, that sure would seem like entrapment to me, though the ATF has not been exactly above violating the law in the past, so it is a possibility

This is a good example of why you should always be careful when buying from online auctions

I'm betting ignorance. I work on a task force with a couple of ATF agents, and they're always too busy to work the cases we send them. If I find out it's because they're baiting Gunbroker for the unwitting, I'll be really pissed.

if its a good deal and you want it, go for it, them when you win tell him to keep the vfg. That way your in the clear.

I actually have a PLR and even if it were legal to have the grip, I would not want it. The gun has great balance (with the rail / or your fingers would fry) and not a lot of muzzle "flip"up. Most people who buy these guns dont know the first thing about them and mount all kinds of crap on them. I seen one guy with a bipod on his and he said "it was perfectly legal" ok, no its not, can be used as a grip also. Once these are broke in with about 100-200 rounds they are great.
