Anyone hear of this brand of gunpowder? Bench rest shooters use this type of powder, and it's rather expensive. I've been trying to locate a vendor that may have some on hand so I can place an order.

Try Widener's-- they do mail order but watch the Hazmat charges. You will have to buy in bulk to make it worth it.

some guys swear by it but I have never tried it

Knobby, the Vit powder is about as good as you can get, kinda the Rolls Royce of powders and is used by almost every winning bench shooter out there. The lots are extremely consistent and it burns very clean. Some of the bench rest guys have been able to get their velocity spreads down in the 30 fps range from round to round. Because of this fact and it is so expensive compared to other powder manufacturers offerings and the fact that it is imported in limited amounts it is hard to find as you noted. Contact Sinclair International as they will be able to give you the info for the people to contact.

It would be cool powder to use for a M 39. I thought about buying a jar to use for the M 96, just cause it's from Scandinava. Knob if you do make a batch with it, post how it does for you. For the time I am still a IMR 4046 and 4895 man.

Just wanted to give it a try since it came highly recommended by the bench rest shooters at my club.

I was reading about a Finnish sniper that in one season nailed 500 Russian soliders with a modified M39...

Thanks for the link sir; like I said, I have a couple members of my club who currently use the powder, so I imagine I can borrow some of their recipes. ;)

Not a prob. If I shoot up the 40lbs of various powder I got, I may try it in my M1A1. Got a supermatch bedded Springfield with a Springfield 3rd gen Armory Government Model 6-20x56 mildot Scope. 1/2 minute of angle adjustment with paralax correction. Fun to shoot a long way!

Very nice piece you got there. I was planning on mixing a batch of ammo for my M1As and AR10s as well.

I got a good load for vit-140 in my NM AR using a 77gr sierra. 1/2" at 300 yrds is the best I've been able to knock out with that load. Bench rest primers were used.
