Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more
than 500 employees and has the following statistics:
* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year...
Can you guess which organization this is?
It's the 535 members of the United States Congress.
The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to
keep the rest of us in line.

They should follow the same criteria to be in congress as it takes to get a gun at a minimum.

I didn't see a number for those that are mentally challenged but from the things coming out of their mouths it has to be a large number.

what website did you pull those stats off of? there used to be a site that listed their criminal acts, and i believe it was comprehensive, in that it listed what theyve been charged with, as well as what they're currently under indictment or in court for......

I work in DC and the only thing about that article that is unbeliveable is that there aren't more. I have a friend of an alternative lifestyle and he tells me every Monday which fine senator he saw at the club over the weekend. And yes I belive him, he sees them from both sides of the isle. We need to get rid to of the two party system!!!!!!!!!!

I don't believe that two, three, four parties, or a free for all would matter. I believe the biggest problem we have with our Central Government is that it has devolved from a Constitutional Republic into a Democracy.
We have just too many voters that have only themselves as an interest to cast the vote.
Just my thoughts.

peeves me off. congressfolks grooming thir kids to go to the right schools say the right thing, know the right ppl, so that they can grow up and do the same freakin thinng.
It is the reason why T Jefferson said that to have a true democracy, you would need an armed revolution every 20 years.

Its that the whole process has been corrupted and we are no longer a government of the people for the people. We are a government of special interest groups, personal vendettas and hidden agendas. Those that scream loud enough, with deep enough pockets and know how to get the attention of the media for the longest period of time get that they want. The public be damned.
We should be holding our government officals to a higher standard than we hold the common citizen to. These are the very people we put in office to represent us. They shouldn't get to hide behind their status as a member of Congress, or a high ranking political appointee, or even the President himself. they don't get to throw a fit when the FBI comes their offices with a search warrant sieze evidence. They shouldn't get to try to buy their way out of it by calling in favors or handing out political IOUs. If they're convicted of a felony while in office, they loose their job, loose their retirement benefits and do hard time just like every one else would. They don't get special treatment. Period.
We are letting those serving in the government get away with this because those in power aren't afraid of the ramifications of their actions.
