Has anyone ever imported any into the States? I saw a picture of one and it looked pretty cool, sort of like a minature CETME C.

Smokehouse69, I think I remember reading in a shotgun news or seeing a photo at the century warehouse that they actually have the "L" kits in the country. Wether true or not though is the question as its been a long time since I saw the article or photo but it was about century and their building of the "c". I think this caused alot of speculation(even might have been mentioned in the article) at the time that century was working on the "L". I have slept since reading the article though and you might do a websearch to see if i am full if doo doo on this one though.

I'd ask Arnaiz, he even knows that CAI got tons more of the Mod C kits a while back.
IIRC< Arneaiz said the Mod L has some problems, due to the soft aluminum receiver or somesuch.

There was talk of importing them back in the mid-1980s as a semi-civilian variant, but never got off the ground.
There was a recent thread before then.
But i remeber perro saying that the L was imported.

If the L had problems already think how bad Century could screw it up.

Yes military found hundreds of problem using L cetme as batle rifle.
C was a rugged gun and L was ...soft.
But in a civilian market this will no so problematic.
I saw 4 Cetme L sport in factory I tried to get one of them but 223 Rem is forbiden in Spain, so there was no posibility to document it. Repeat 4 units.
Asked about changing barrel to 222 Rem. but the idea did not grow.

A little baby CETME!
My son wants one, He can't quite shoulder mine yet...
Anyone who has the machine skills to engineer a CETME that will shoot .50BMG, lemme know, I'll front some funds for R&D!
Or maybe I'll contact the :century: @ CAI.

Steelcore, in many foreign countries, to sell firearms in the same caliber that the armed forces use is illegal, both in pistols and rifles, thus there are some firearms made with unique camberings. Colt used to make ar-15's in 222 rem to get around this for export. I think the 9x21 modern pistol round is another example of this in europe.

I actually like the looks of the model L better than the model C.

I'm trying to remember the name of a recent Spanish film set in Bosnia, with lots of CETME L's in it .....
Good film, too!

Arnaiz said once that the reason they could not have rifles in military calibers was due to the people raiding the armory and stealing the ammo. Make it illegal to have rifles in the same caliber and you put a stop to that.

Well not the people....the militarys.
No one said that they did the law with this in the mind but I think there is no other reason.
But 9mm para is a free caliber, and also 7,62x39 is forbiden and its no a military caliber in Spain.
Another gun stupid law, with no sense.

shameless plug for the movie "guerreros".
Somebody mentioned it on the old board a while back, and I got it through netflix. Not a bad flick, and cool to see all the cetmes in action.
and OT the original discussion topic, but since war movies were mentioned, another good war movie that not too many have heard of is "Tae Guk Gi, the brotherhood of war". Both great pieces of film.
p.s. they're both dubbed too in case that turns some of you guys off.
