Hey guys, was going thru some stuff I got from my dad years ago. Found a bunch of baggies of what appears to be steel cased .45 ECS 43 headstamp.

ECS Evansville Chrysler, Sunbeam Ordnance Plant, Evansville, Indiana. 8

Is supposedly where its from. Anyone have any info on this? Looks like a standard copper jacketed ball round, the steel case is the main thing that jumped out at me.

Most of the steel case .45ACP has now fallen into the collector category. A little research on the headstamp will provide some overall production (maybe) and an estimate of rarity. I saw some go recently at a show for $2.00 per round. No other details available.

I have hundreds of rnds of this stuff. It was sold as surplus as recently as O4. It came in spam cans of I think 600 rnds for 89$ . Steel case ammo (Sunbeam Refrigerator made the case) was used for practice ammo,as it rusted and became unusable in the field. This ammo was sold to the Israelis, and they later released it into the surplus market. It still shoots great!
No collector value ,sorry.

NP. Just means I wont feel guilty shooting it ^^. Only have a few baggies, but would have *SUCKED* to shoot it and then found out it was worth 10 dollars a round or something to collectors.

I gotta friend in Evansville, IN...it is in the far south of the state. THat would be some cool ammo to have jsut because it is a 'local blend.'

I have a 600 round Spam can of some WWII surplus too, .45 ACP

I don't know if it is steel cased or anything but I might be getting curious

Bought it for 68 bucks from Sportsmansguide in 2005 I think

It was marked for Army Air Forces but I haven't opened it yet
