you can get a printout from them....but it is a lot of effing around+18 bucks. Why do I need to give them fingerprint cards to see my record.

Depending on your (or their) interpretation of that, they might as well be empowered to tell you the Moon is, or is not made of green cheese. It says they are "empowered to".... doesn't say they have to be truthful.
