Today I fired a Guardia Civil Model 1916 at a buddies place. His froen had put it in his gunsaf, and there ti sat for 10 yrs or better. It wa marked 7.52 on the receiver, but it had been rechambered for 762NATO. cleaned the carbine up, then test fire, then each of ush too about 10 shots at 50 yds with it. It was OK....my best group of 5 was about 3" across, and 1" high with one spitting the same hole as another.

Th rear sight is crap, and the front sight is not much better. We told the owner we shot it, but that it'd make a better wallhanger.

I would give the barrel a good cleaning. Years of copper fouling is likely one of the culprits. Use Shooters Choice solvent and soak it good clean it several times over a few days unti you no longer get green residue on the patches and then try it again. You might be surprised at the results. I have an FR-8 and two 7 X 57 spanish short rifles. All three shoot 2" or better.

Mid nailed it. I was out at a buddies that day, then spent that night drinkin and playin poker with dad, uncle, and other family members at dad's place. They went ot bed, and I hit the intarwebz fer a bit of drunk nite surfin...at least there were no sharks! ;)

Oh, and the Elijah Craig 12yr old small batch Bourbon is a smoove killuh.

As fer the 1916, I'll try some Pro-shot copper solvent that I use on my old milsurps. The bbl looked shiny, with some muzzle end scratches, but still mirror like. The sight ramp on the back is wobbly, needs replaced, and the rear sight cut looks like it was made with the precision of a blind guy wielding a butcher knife. I thought it strange that the rear sight started at 300M and went from there on up. I mean, I'd never need to move the sight!
