LostInTexas and Perro,

Here are some images of some of my drawings. I had posted them on the old boards at one time. The B-17 is the Memphis Belle. I did this for a buddy of mine to give to his dad. The other image of it has a signature. My buddy got it signed by Col. Morgan before he gave it to his dad.

Perro, look at the trench images, and this might show what I talked about in my PM.

Whazzup?

Nice technique, man. love that crosshatched closeup at the bottom. Awesome shading and texturing...that uniform on the guy in the trench look like cloth! Thassa lotta crosshatching! Noce foreshortening on the first one, too.

Glad to see those all over again.

I suck at realism in art, but like some of the greats in realism...me, I do tesselations and interlace patterns...I dig M.C Escher for his tesselations.

Incredible man! My mother used to do pieces in pencil and charcoals so I know how labor intensive it is. You have real talent.

Thanks for the compliments guys!!! I wish my photograpy skills were better, some of these images look fuzzy. One of my degrees is in Graphic Design, but I finished just as computers became the big thing...I hate doing artwork on a machine. The crosshatching is tedious, and there is alot of setup in pencil before the first pen stroke, but I feel it gives me more gradual control of the shading. I don't draw near as much as I used to. Thanks again for the kind words!

What was the purpose of the wrapped calfs on the soldiers?

The wrappings, or putees, kept the mud out of the shoes better than the lace up leggings. They were also warmer than leggings.
