Can someone help identify this bolt carrier? It was part of a CETME parts kit. It appears to be typical except for the cut away lower lower rail. It is also milled from one piece, not welded.

Is that a model B bolt carrier? I think that mine's like that as well, though I don't have it in front of me (it's in Texas). Some CETME C's use CETME B bolt carriers, IIRC. I think the "rails" were trimmed to lower the bolt mass for use with the 7.62x51 CETME cartridge, or at least I sem to remember that being the case

does anyone know the weight difference between model B and C bolt carriers? as in would it be enough to affect the recoil sensation of the rifle? not that mine kicks very hard at all, I'm just curious, as most blowbacks are fairly sensitive to bolt/slide weight

I would, think that being lighter than the C bolt carrier that velocity of the carrier would be greater, with more recoil than the C bolt carrier. I could be wrong though.

Heavier recoil spring, better bump fire?

Eagle 1, Yes, it would increase the felt recoil, which is one of the reasons for upgrading to the slightly stronger G3 recoil spring.

Grasshopper, Mag dumps in this gun are not exactly what I would recomend. I have seen video of a CETME at full auto fire, and it does not look pleasant. (fun, but not pleasant).

my biggest concern would be wasting precious 7.62 nato ammo, but then again I'm a poor college student...

I had my CETME double and triple fire on me a few times when one of the trigger pack springs was out of whack, and it wasn't really "unpleasant" (scared the sh!t outta me, but not unpleasant :icon_razz:). it certainly made the "push" longer, but it didnt feel like it kicked any harder and wasn't punishing at all, just a steady, but reasonably soft push.

unfortunately, leaving the gun in this state was not very safe so I had to reposition the spring and everything works fine now :icon_biggrin:
