help! i was functions checking my springfield trp before a range trip and i discovered that the grip safety is almost totally inop. if i push up on the beavertail and pull the trigger, it will not fire. if i don't touch the grip safety at all, i can pull the trigger and drop the hammer with only slightly more force than it takes with the grip safety engaged. i remember reading something about this in Patrick Sweeney's Gunsmithing Pistols book, but i had to ship it home and it's still in the mail. is this an easy fix (can i do it with grinding stones or regular hand tools) or is this a walk into the gunsmith with my tail between my legs sort of problem?

thanks for the help :)

Try pulling the sear spring and rearching the leaf that presses out on the grip safty.
You will need to drop the main spring huusing to get to it.The pin is at the lower rear end of the grip.

Or you can just get a replacement sear spring from Wolf,Willison,or any of the other "name" brand maker of after market parts.Just make sure to plece the hammer strut back on the top of the main spring cup, before sliding the MS housing back up into place and repinning it.
If you need more info,IM me and i'll give you my PH# and walk you through it.
