Unconstitutional?

Ramsey said he and Nutter were in agreement on Nutter's crime-fighting strategy, including Nutter's promise to employ a controversial "stop, question and frisk" policy to target illegal weapons.

Though outgoing Commissioner Johnson has warned that Nutter's stop-and-frisk strategy could risk "disaster" by alienating the public, Ramsey said the aggressive tactic was a "valuable tool" as long as it was conducted within the law.

"You need reasonable suspicion in order to stop them," Ramsey said in an interview the day his selection was announced.

4th amendment? it seems to me that walking down the street minding my own business, and then being stopped questioned and frisked seems like unreasonable search to me..... man thats one jacked up policy......

i dont mean to sound on his side (i'm not) but that's already possilbe under Terry vs Ohio (1968) the stop and frisk laws. if there is a legitmate reason to believe a person might have or be in the process of commiting a crime, the police have the right to stop them, question them and frisk them (the frisk for thier own protection) and i dont really have a problem with this. i do have a problem with the cops singleing out lawful gun owners, because its not a crime to carry a weapon if lisenced properly.

but it smacks of those unwarranted weapons searches they are doing in Queensland OZ these days.

My buddy once had his van stopped because the local LEOs were following up on a crime scene nearby, and a van matching his was described near the scene. They took a short look in, dinn't even mess with this huge knife he had in there, and sent him on his way.

"fire department personnel were being taught "...to be alert for a person who is hostile, uncooperative or expressing hate or discontent with the United States."
-->Uh, I guess I'll have to trash my "Boot the BATFE" posters, huh?

Also, I thought it was our right to express discontent with the United States if we had a problem...right? I mean this section of the forum has a bit of that going on alla time...

Say...none of youse guys is firemenz, iz ye?

This is one of the main reasons why I left Philadelphia and moved outside of Philly-city area. Things are getting ridiculous over here.

I can see two types that will be targeted for this stop & frisk..

all black youths, as well as anybody who looks middle eastern, as well as anybody who looks like they might have a wee-bit of pot on them.

The second group ripe for frisking, will be real pretty and sexy girls, dressed up to go out.

"Hey missy, we are here to protect you and to keep the city safe, Im gonna have to ask you to bend over this here car...."

yea, i fell oh so safe here in dc, walking back from work at night at 230am. i have an asp and a pocket knife.... and i still wont be able to defend myself because only a dumbass who obeys the law (me, for the most part) would bring a pocket knife to a mugging when my would be assailant has a gun... thank you chief for all youve done. i hope the supreme court lets us have CCWs here and crime goes down, and proves your dumba$$ wrong

i loathe DC politicians

CT ones too

I almost hope that does happen, followed by a major lawsuit, so that everyone will see what a terrible idea this is :nonono:

Sadly the only people who loose in a lawsuit against a city is the taxpayers.
