I grew up in the DC area (Fairfax VA and all over Montgomery County MD). Seeing this pics really brings back memories. Thanks for sharing em. I loved the snow when I was younger. As soon as I was driving I realized that people forget how to drive when it starts snowing.
Of course now I live in Wisconsin... people also forget how to drive in the snow but the snow removal teams here are a heck of a lot better equipped.

My girlfriend was up there on Tuesday. She whined about how cold it was. I can only imagine what would have happened if it had snowed while she was there.

I'd just lay down somewhere and wait for death to overtake me...snow....ugh...
If I can just hang on a couple more years, I'll have made it half a century without changing a diaper or shoveling a driveway.
Nice photos, tho.

What's up with that picture of the American flag? It's so dark. Was the flag not illuminated? There's supposed to be a light shining on the American flag if it's going to be flown during the nighttime.

I almost dinnt' reconize the park around the washington monument...when I was there in the summer every time, the place was lousy with bums.
We have about 4-5 inches of snow on the ground here in Indy...I do love the snow...I'm a circumpolar person. I'd freak out living where there were no seasonal changes, spring, summer, fall, winter, I luv 'em all!

no, there were lights..... my camera just isnt great, and there wernt nearly as many as inside the WW2 monument (by far, my favorite). i couldnt really play with exposures or anything very well (its not a camera that lets u do that, except for like, one or two settings) so i just pointed and clicked. the ones with more light up front just gathered more. if i had the ability (like on my dad's camera) to play with shutter speeds, exposures, ISOs, etc then i could do better... but i was just out to have some fun
nice pics!

You can have the current 14 inches in my front yard that unlike Baltimore where I grew up, will not melt next week. Typically every one of our cumulative snowfalls remains until late spring, piling up like geological layers one upon another. By spring, sidewalks will look like trenches, driveways like canyons, houses like ornaments perched atop slope-sided, white frosted cakes. There will be beautiful wind-sculpted shapes in my backyard like albino badlands. At least, in the 4 months of "Not-Winter" we are rewarded by mosquitoes!.

I'm glad some people like that stuff. I was out on the range here yesterday. 65 degrees, no wind. Damned hot by the time I left, at least 73 or so! What's a season?

Yes it is! I love the snow! Why do you think I live in MN?! Hell I will be on the motorcycle sunday....well only a very short ride to a friends memorial and home...but it still counts! I think the high temp predicted for sunday is 23. I wonder what the windchill will be at 40+MPH? :icon_neutral:
