i took a little different approach this time and i am much happier with my decision. i have seen many post of people asking about a floating barrel solution so i figure i would give it a go. a couple of pictures.
i have to make a lower grip and all the fcg. i think i am going to make something different due to 922r. it should just take some time to build that.
my barrel being floating i have a rpk bi=pod that fits right over the barrel triple frame spot but then it is not floating so i plan on making a swivel mount on the bottom of the handgaurd.
i made my receiver piece out of 16gauge sheet metal and bent it by hand and some hammers. milled out the ejection port too.
i will get some more pics after i get some beers in me...........enjoy

more stuff done tonight. i really like the mg grip so i figure i would give it a go. i hate the whole cant have the front pin. i mean a total deal killer type hate!!! i welded the crap out of the hole so no problems there.
i might make a striker sytem instead of a hammer. i have plenty of room and already have a good idea brewing.

Wow, man. I wondered if tha tinternal rail thingy would work. Looks like it'll do just fine!
How will the buttstock attach to the receiver? Or are you not there yet?

I got to tell ya TT , that rig is vary cool .Iam gona have to bend me one up to go with my 50 cal suomi muzzle loader.

12-14-2007, 08:57 PM
well i need to cut out a internal insert that the recoil assy will weld to and then make a tab to stick out on the bottom to lock together. the stock will bolt through it again.
i plan on some lightning cuts on the foregrip.got any idea of a pattern?
the mg grip is heaven to me compared to the cetme! just seems to feel better.
i am suprised no one brought up the idea of how the ejector is going to work. i have no idea but are working on it.....cant be too hard right?
i would like to find a scope rail to WELD on the receiver and mount some glass. after all i want some sniping out of her!
i thought a carry handle might be fun too. i have seen some fal handles for cheap so......any thoughts?
are the cheap 30 round mags us made? looks pretty vilinous (sp?)

How's the weight compared to a regular Cetme or G3?
kevin
12-15-2007, 09:20 PM
i think that would look better if you ventilated that tube around the barrel, kinda like the model b cetme forearms

i was thinking of removing more wieght.
1" back from the end. 2" cut, 1/2" space between. 2.5" cut 1/2"space. 3"cut done.
this on the both sides and the bottom. 1/2" bit

whats your next project?
i think it would be cool to get a stamped ak parts kit, cetme buttstock and mg42 grips
could probably just find a way to attach the grip and keep the ak internals. then just get some sheet metal and start bending. You could even cut off the cocking handle on the right side and stick a homemade cocking handle on the left side
http://www.wwiiguns.com/store/product_details.php?p=207
www.wwiiguns.com/store/images/mp44_mag_wwii.jpg
all the little raised half round parts could be made by taking round stock about that size and grinding it on one side. could even use brass and braze it on then duracoat or paint over it, the buttons and push pins would be easy

i need to get the fcg started but the carrier flys back and forth just fine. does that count? i like to make it look done to keep the motivation rolling. i need to make a pin mount for the grip too.
as for the stg-44 wow. so many rails, rivets, spot welds, and dimples. what a job to build that.
kevin
12-16-2007, 08:28 PM
you could use mostly AK parts, you could take round stock and grind it down to make some of the raised spots by welding them on. You could make a close resemblance. I think it would be a cool project

Yea, that counts cuz all you'd need to do is make it with a fixed firing pin so then when you release the charging handle it'd go fullauto till the mag was empty. It' be hard to aim and fire @ the same time, illegal, & very impractical but you wouldn't need a FCG.
I wish I had yer Skillz

i am thinking about a cloth or canvas or something to wrap around the stock. any photo shoppers out there got any ideas?
the cheek weld is great and the sneaky thing is the striker spring is going through the main tube.

Man that’s looking good!
How ‘bout something like this burlap material to wrap around it?
http://www.cabelas.com/spod-1/0009239.shtml
To hold it in place you could stitch the material on or even use like a high temp automotive gasket adhesive or even black RTV to glue it in place? Just depends on how permanent you want it.

Oh, there is a dude near my office who did that to his pick-up truck. Looks like he used maple leaves. Looks kinda bubba'ed to me, would look better on a gun.
Can bubba'ed be used in referance to a vehicle?

Bubba a truck, heck yeah, seen it a few times. A guy that lives here is definite proof. I wish I had pictures. A Freightliner chrome front bumper on a Dodge 1 ton dually with 4" dual upright stacks, too many lights to count and that was just the main highlights of his truck.
