After a semester of high stress, I finally reached the end goal. Yesterday at noon I walked up to the platform and recieved my diploma. I got a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematical Sciences. I'm not completely done as I have a final exam tomorrow morning and then I have to do an install for our design project on Tuesday. As of Tuesday night I will be done being a full time student. It's been a long, hard journey but I finally completed it. My girlfriend was instrumental in helping me keep my sanity through all the stress this year. I don't brag too often but this is something I am proud of, being the first in my family to earn a degree. My girlfriend also graduated with honors in Mechanical Engineering.

Both Heather and I lucked out and have jobs a couple miles from each other. The only thing is, our jobs are only a couple miles from Detroit. I figure you've got to go where the money is. All in all I don't think it'll be too bad. I'm looking forward to getting out of the UP and away from the snow. I'll miss being able to drive 5 miles in any direction and shoot as well though.

Congatulations big guy!

Not 200+ inches.
And Bluma, the only thing she does automobile wise is drive one. She's more interested in Biomechanics. She'll be working with the Surgeon for the Detroit Tigers on sports injuries.

Good Job Ryan! Now spell Electrical Engineer in "1"s and "0"s!
You know what they say...
Civil Engineers build the targets...
Mechanical Engineers build the guns...
Electrical Engineers build the guidance systems...
Now and hopefully for the rest of your life things will only change a little...
Yes you will still be miserable at work as you were at school...
Except NOW someone will be paying you to be miserable...
NOT you paying them to make you miserable...
It sure makes me happier to be miserable!

Congratulations Weasel. That's really great. I got my degree 40 years ago and I still remember the stress of school and working as I got through with the GI bill and an assembly line job.
As a double E with an understanding of guns and things mechanical you will will have something unique to offer...An electrical engineer who knows what a 1/4-20 thread is.

Way to go bud! Now go to work for the rest of your life! What does the company you are going to work for do?
Try not to grow roots too deep in Det. and once you are back on your feet find a job somewhere you want to live.

Someone once told me...you may go to school for 4plus years but they still won't let you wear the black and white striped hat....

Are you planning to move? There is a optics place up the road here called Insight Technology http://www.insighttechnology.com/
They are opening up a civilian plant next year but you'd be interested in the military plant. My Friend Harold, Jr'sGunsmithing.com works there. Come on out to New Hampster, we need good people like you and your girlfriend.

I appreciate all the congrats. I just finished installing our system an hour ago so I am officially done. I'll post a couple pics in the morning about our final system. Sure feels good to be done. My girlfriend was waiting at the door with a beer in hand when I came walking in. What a great feeling.
