My Feather AT 22 doesn't like some 22 ammo, it jams. It does it with the lead unjacketed bullet and the Rem Golden™ Bullet HP.
I think I need a good jacketed bullet.
What would be a good jacketed bullet?
I have also had bad luck with some of those bulk packed 22's, they don't cycle the bolt.
Are the bulk pack less quality than the single packs?
I have had good luck with some 10 to 20 yr old CCI but am out of it now.
My boy just got a 10/22, does it require better quality ammo or will the cheap stuff work?

I have always had good luck with CCI Mini-Mags. Since they are hyper velocity, they not the most accurate though.

My savage mkII will put ten rounds in one hole at 50 yards off Mini-mags, and green tag groups about twice the size at the same distance, even though they're supposed to be target ammo... but that's what .22's are known for, damn picky on ammo.
Is it just short cycling, or are they not feeding right? First thing I'd try in a semi would be some hotter ammo, some of them need the hot stuff just to kick the bolt back.

The 10-22 will eat anything pretty much. I'm K98 in that CCI mini mags are the best off the shelf ammo for all your .22 needs. I built a target 10-22 and there's not been much difference in any ammo I fired. Of course they all hit a little different and the cheap bulk pack stuff will give a loud or quiet bang now and again but ...........it's CHEAP!

CCI mini mags, thats what I had and had no problems with it.
I will buy my boy a 10/22 drum to shot up all that cheap ammo I have...but then I will have to buy more:eek:

My 10/22 has cycled everything it's been fed. Other 22 semi's won't cycle half what the Ruger has.
I suggest buying a box of everything and trying it. A bullet that weighs 40gr may work perfectly while 36 gr jams. Regular, high velocity and hyper velocity in different weights will have different effects on reliable functioning.
My Ruger MKII pistol also eats everything 22, while others won't.
I was about to give up on finding a reliable brand on my sisters 22 semi-auto when I found two boxes of Petersons high velocity solid point 40 gr in the bottom of my 22 can. They work perfectly, and are no longer made, of course.
Velociraptor cured the problems on one of my 22s, But you need to try them all for yourself. The fun part is you get shooting time!

.22 lr ammo is not jacketed, none of it. Some is plated. Some plating is thicker than others. The CCI minimags have a thicker plating than most. Sad to hear there is a .22 rifle that will not eat most ammo. My 10-22's eat anything. My Glenfield M-60 eats anything. The Feather may have a collector interest out there. I would consider cutting it loose and getting a 10-22. You could likely find someone at a fun show to trade you head up.

Have you tried CCI stingers? They make my boy's 22 cycle every time.

Now if you get one of these, you don't have to worry about ammo selection at all.

My semi- auto marlin withthe tube mag loves these, even the HPs are copper plated. But it'll shot long and short .22...

Ran some through my P22 for the hell of it... almost scary... it actually had a noticable recoil, but that could have been just from the slide getting slammed back so fast, and boy was it loud!
The Savage just groups about the same as mini-mags, but about two inches higher than point of aim at 50 yards, and a sharper "crack."
